Calvin Ridley wants out of Atlanta, should we roll the dice?

He was pretty solid for a terrible Falcons team before leaving them for mental health issues. If he gets right would you take a chance?

The price will just be too high. Significant draft compensation and an extension.

Use the money to extend Brown. Use the draft picks to take a WR (early).

LT is a bigger need than WR2. We’re really talking about getting our third option to take some pressure off Hill and Kelce. Even a 800 yard, 6 TD type of WR would be a huge get. We can find that at the end of the first round.

Hell, Detroit seems to have found a super solid WR in the 4th round with Amon-Ra St. Brown. No reason we can’t find someone similar early.

Brown is at least good enough at LT and a great run blocker. Bad idea to let that slip away.
Well hes an Egyptian sun god so..

Who else is going to become available this off-season? I only know about Ridley because I live in Atlanta and I always have sports talk on in the background.

Here’s a few that are currently set to be UFAs according to Spotrac:

Allen Robinson
Chris Godwin
Davante Adams
Juju Smith Schuster
AJ Green
Zach Pascal
Mike Williams
Christian Kirk
Jakobi Meyers
Odell Beckham Jr

Obviously, this assumes that none of them get extensions or re-signed by their current teams.

Mahomes is good about not actually taking a sack, but LT is a pretty big deal.

I am disappointed that, at least so far, he has hasn't made any JAG type of WR behind Hill look like a pro bowl guy who signs somewhere else for big bucks only to majorly disappoint with his new team.

No.

Absolutely not. 100% **** no.

He has 1 year left on his deal (the 5th year option) so you're looking at ANOTHER trade draft capital and give a guy big money sort of deal.

Oh, and Ridley's 27. So you're going to have the same dilemma with him you have with Hill. You're looking at extensions for guys that will start entering their age 29 season. Now with Hill you have a HoF talent who's uniquely suited for Mahomes.

With Ridley you have a guy with 1 premier season on his resume, two fairly middling ones and then one where he imploded. And he doesn't have the preternatural physical skills that Hill has. He looks to age a HELL of a lot more like Jeremy Maclin than Steve Smith.

If the Falcons cut him outright I wouldn't sign him for the contract he wants. If we could give up a 4th to get him to play on the 5th year option then let him walk, I'd do that, but he almost certainly won't.

Anything more than that and we're just plowing too capital into relatively short-term solutions to act as a crutch for our half billion dollar quarterback. Fellas - if he's worth $500 million, he'd better by god be able to function without $60 million in skill position players surrounding him.

If he's worth that kind of money he's a force multiplier. And he IS worth that kind of money. So put the money/cap into continuing to strengthen the defense while making it younger/faster and let Mahomes make a little magic with only 2 HoF pass-catchers, a damn good OL and a rocket of a right arm.

This is where I am at as well. Itd be nice to find a stud wide receiver in the draft to play opposite Hill and Kelce for the next 4 years on a rookie contract. If Kelce is going to play at a high level well into his mid 30s we need to start taking some of the burden and wear and tear off his body. Crucial year to find a high level WR2.
