This dude has 58 fumbles since he joined the NFL. Can we stop acting like he’s a God.

Also I have to ask since people keeping bringing it up: what remotely recent QB has gone from pretty good to terrible then just magically became great again because of some sort of coaching/team change? It seems to me that this is always floated around but never actually happens. Remember last year it was: look out! Cam is on the Pats! MVP with the best coach in the nfl!!!1!1. How could the NFL let him get on the Pats?!?! How did that turn out? There is probably some one off edge case I can't think of, but in general, if a team benches a guy because he sucks, he isn't going to just figure it out a year or two later with a change of scenery and become an all pro qb.

Yeah if he plays well, they'll be good. But we don't even know if he can stay healthy yet, let alone play well.
Top 3 in the AFC - I think they have that. Last year anyways. We will see what they add and all that.

Just a look at what Wentz had to deal with this year.

-team stupidly drafted Hurts to replace him
-starting first rd LT Andre Dillard on IR all year
-starting first rd WR Raegor hurt in week 2. Placed on IR and returned around Thanksgiving.
-starting G Brandon Brooks on PUP and hurt most of year
-WR Marquise Goodwin on IR all year
-WR Alston Jeffrey didn’t play until middle of November. Was never healthy.
-starting TE Dallas Goedert hurt ankle in week 3. On IR until November
-starting G Isaac Seumalo hurt knee in week 2. On IR until December
-WR DeSean Jackson hurt in week 3. Out until end of November.

So basically almost of his time last year was without 3 starting OL and only Zach Ertz, a failed 2nd rd WR and a bunch of shit to throw to.

Oh and a shit coach to boot

They drafted Hurts because Wentz kept getting hurt. He’s played two full seasons in his career.

Meh. I really don't see what was so special about that 2017 run anyway. Sure, the 11-2 record is nice but he barely had 60% completion, just a touch over 3,000 yards, and 33 TDs. If you're feeling generous round up his stats to 4k yards and 40 TDs for the games he missed while injured, but with his injury history I don't see why you would.

Kurt Warner maybe? That's the only thing that sounds remotely similar.

After KC, the AFC is just not very good. This deal is great for Indy bc it gives them a chance. Thhey were dead in the water with Rivers. They were a catastrophe against the Bills bc his arm was done. They were so limited it was nuts.

And to put this into perspective, no first rd QB drafted from 2009-2016 is with their original team anymore. it’s hard to find a good QB.

Getting a high ceiling QB with a strong arm like Wentz is the best play Ballard could have made.

And yes he looked bad this year, but a change of scenery and better support can turn a QB around. Carson Wentz was good when he had a healthy OL, coaching and weapons. It’s not surprising he was bad when he didn’t have those things.

Those things matter. Josh Allen was proof of that this season.

“Carson Wentz was good when he was healthy.”

1. Good isn’t going to win the AFC.
2. He has problems staying healthy.

Now don’t get me wrong. This was really the only move the Colts had, although they could have done what the Chiefs did and traded up for their guy.

39 year old Philip Rivers threw more touchdowns, cut his ints in half, and raised his qb rating by almost 10 points in his one year in Indy, a year with no training camp and no preseason.

I’m not saying it will happen, but if anyone can do it, it’s Reich.
