There's a reason he gives some dumb ****ing answers to the press when asked about his players. He isn't going to turn his back on anyone, especially not to the media. This has hurt him in some occasions, maybe, but no doubt that it has a big impact inside of the clubhouse.

I think, as a whole, managers (especially in the AL) are overrated by fans. I think it's hilarious when the manager is the first person that is blamed for anything. I don't think that a manager himself has much to do with the outcome of many games, but that's my opinion solely. I am more of a "blame the players" guy.

I would be lying if I said I was a supporter of his when last season started, but now I think he may have something, definately the players support, and that's good enough.

I won't disagree with that at all. Ned is also helped in having HDH slotted 7-8-9 in regards to the bullpen. We saw it tonight. Wade struggling and has bases loaded? Fight through it. And he did.

Manger win/loss is probably around 2 to 3 games out of 162.

I totally get what you're saying, but NL managers are vastly more overrated than AL managers. IT'S A ****IMG DOUBLE SWITCH, PEOPLE...IT'S NOT COLD FUSION!

The AL dominates inter-league play.

That's the difference between division champ and wild card a lot of years, or wild card and playing golf.

That's so easy to say in retrospect.

Escobar: (Former Brewer prospect) Easily could have been dumped years ago. Remember how much shit Yost used to take for not pinch hitting for him in late innings back in the day? He always said that he needed to learn how to do it.

Cain: (Former Brewer prospect). Dude was completely raw and injury prone. Easily could have been dumped years ago.

Gordon: Could have been dumped years ago. He sucked for years.

Perez: Wasn't even a good prospect. Yost said from day one that he could be a Hall of Famer.

The guy knows his shit. He's made Dayton Moore look good just as much as Dayton's made him look good.

Me too. I have a very low bar of acceptability for managers, and before Ned came along, every Royals manager I saw while I was following the team failed to even do that much. I have two basic rules:

1) Pitch counts are important. Listen to the trainers, the doctors, and don't overwork or hurt your pitchers. Ned has been excellent at this, almost to a fault. Way too many of our prior managers have possibly ruined arms by overworking them.

2) Realize that you are managing in the American League, which means do not bunt or steal too much. Ned passes. (note: this has changed a bit, since sabermetrics have determined that with the decline of runs, "small ball" is now more relevant than before, but there's still a point where you can overdo it)

Thats it, thats all I ask of my manager. You do that, I'm cool, I don't care about lineups much, other than the L/R/L/R order can be helpful too. Ned was the first manager in a very long time which surpassed my very low bar of expectations for a manager.

I think it can potentially be as high as 4 or 5, but yeah, its not a lot.
