Absolutely. Yes, 1,000,000 percent. That’s a young defense, too. Honey Badger is going to give them a big boost as Eric Berry was out for much of last year. Frank Clark will give them a big boost with that pass rushing. Frank Clark gets it done!!! Steve Spagnuolo, when players pick up his scheme, it’s very effective. I know we talk about their offense a lot, but their defense, personnel wise, is in a much, much better place.
Dont care. Want a CB!

Glazer is 100% accurate on his reporting which is why he doesn’t break a lot of news because he wants to be 100% accurate but he is top notch

I have been telling my friends the same thing. I have this really strong intuition that this team will go undefeated this year and win the whole thing. I can't see them score less than 30 in any game. The D will be so much better that the games won't even be close.

I don’t see us losing a game until maybe week 7 and that’s only bc we are going to Denver on a short week and it will literally be their Super Bowl.

But the odds of Denver beating us is low.

I definitely think Hyde makes the team after last night. He's what I expected he would be-- he's not dynamic or eye popping but he's a different type of runner than anybody we have on the roster, and I really think we need that dimension. Reminds me of the ol' bit about Leroy Hoard. He said once, "If you need 2 yards, I'll get you 3 yards." That quote followed him around the rest of his career, because fans started to add to that: "If you need 2 yards, I'll get you 3 yards. If you need 4 yards, I'll get you 3 yards."

Thompson CAN run in between the tackles, but if I need a 3rd and short conversion, I'd rather have Hyde than Thompson. And I wouldn't care so much about having that short yardage guy if we had more talent at the RB position to compete with him, but we simply don't. Sorry, I know I've been hating on him a lot, but I just don't think Darrell Williams is that good, or even good enough to earn a handful of touches in a committee approach. I'd much rather have Hyde.

And I know what people are going to say. "BUT THE FUMBLE!"

His worst year for fumbles was in 2016, when he had 244 touches and 5 fumbles. One fumble for every ~45 touches isn't great, but he's followed it up since then with a more respectable 299 touches and 2 fumbles in 2017 and 1 fumble in 182 touches last year.

He's fine for ball security.

The weather last night played an obvious factor in the game. I think that's why Pat was a little off in his throws and why there was so many fumbles and drops.

Hyde will be the goal line back and short yardage guy.

Trent green has mentioned Thompson fighting for a roster spot during both games.

SURELY that's not still the case.

I'd think it's between Hyde and Williams . With Hyde in the lead.

Based on what?

We haven't seen him play barely at all. Even when we cut Hunt, he only had 13 rushes for 44 yards (3.4 avg). Going back to last year's preseason and the 2018 regular season, his most impressive plays have been in the pass game.

He's a big 230 lb guy, but he's also tall for a RB (over 6'1) so he's not really a low center of gravity type of RB. If I need a ballcarrier to bowling ball his way to 2 yards, Williams hasn't yet demonstrated he can counteract that extra 2 inches of unnecessary height he has. And he hasn't demonstrated in preseason games or the regular season how he can be helpful to the RB committee. He basically does what Damien Williams does... only worse. I'm not against Darrell Williams making the team, but I don't think it's smart to just cut Hyde for the specific reason of, "We have Darrell Williams to do that shit."

Again, I think people just have a hate boner out for Hyde. It started as a hot take to predict that Hyde wouldn't make the 53, and now people are in full-on preseason fan mode where any of the non-starter veterans on the roster could and in many cases SHOULD lose their jobs to the plucky young guy. All for what? Cap space? 1.5 million of Hyde's 2.8 million was guaranteed. At least when people clamor for cutting Sorensen, we'd actually save a nice little bundle of cash. We don't save anything significant by cutting Hyde.

He’s had enough carries between the tackles that I think we’ve seen enough to know he could do it

He's just being an unassuming broadcaster. "6th round rookie... 4 guys being considered as a part of the committee... hmm, makes sense that he could possibly find himself at the short end of the stick..."

Use your eyes, Trent. Your football career ****ed up your brain, but I'm assuming it didn't affect your eyesight.

I also didn't attend training camp practices, and the tweet coverage tended to be a lot of, "OMG PATRICK MAHOMES!" "OMG WR SPEED!" I mean, for good reason, not gonna say that shit wasn't fun to read and watch, but I got very little information from reports regarding depth at RB, OL, LB, or any of the tight competitions for back-end depth other than the WR and CB positions.

People mentioned once or twice they thought Darrell looked good in practices, so maybe that's something. If that's the case, I haven't seen Darrell get significant looks in preseason action to put that on display.

Thompson playing the second quarter last night, and then not being on the field at all after halftime, pretty much removes any doubt about whether he makes the team or not.
