Defense against Detroit was Hot & Cold

They were worked over early but when they started standing up our offense shat themselves. In a game that Pat Mahomes arguably looked like shit for a lot of it, the defense kept us in the game whether you realize it or not.

We don't win this game without a heads up play on a forced fumble and a TD return by Breeland.

We put the defense in terrible position several times with turnovers.

When the defense got stops the offense and Mahomes crapped down their leg.

Our special teams tried to single handedly snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and luckily failed.

Mahomes was off today. Shit is gonna happen but this was a terrible game for him overall.

Our O-Line sucked
Watkins sucked

The defense did what they needed to do. They gave the offense a chance at a game winning drive. Not ideal but given what they were handed they did their job.

You can bitch and cry about Clark all you want. It's bullshit but whatever. The defense got some key stops and gave this offense every chance to run away with this game. Luckily the offense finally capitalized when it mattered.

We have a lot of work to do on defense still but overall this defense is better than last year. We have got to get more solid up the middle against the run. That is still the biggest deficiency on this defense.

Defense needs to stop giving up the long opening drives.

It contributes to the Chiefs’ slow starts.

Agreed but you are going against teams who are running scripted plays against a defense that is still finding itself. But I don't disagree. We got a 3 and out week one and that has been it.

Agreed. The defense played well in some tough situations. Tackling was a problem several times, but there were several plays that they sniffed out perfectly and made some nice stops. Fuller did have some tentative plays that resulted in 1st downs.

Thornhill missed a TFL. Again.

If this was last years defense, they probably give up 40 + and we lose to the Lions.

The defense just sucks fellas! They're going for the big hit instead of wrapping up, which is what they have been doing for years! I thought Spags got them out of that habit.

Xavier Williams gets pushed around easily.

Frank Clark gets pushed around easily.

Honey Badger can't cover.

Thornhill can't cover or tackle.

Ward never looks for the ball, hence gets burned on every play.

The offensive line are getting pushed around by every team too. Both lines suck!!!

I like this version better than last years model. I’m thinking they will be better, the more they play together. They were on the field, a lot today, with us either behind or struggling to hold a slim lead. Detroit is a very good team, by the way.

They were on the field the whole 3rd quarter due to turnovers. Detroit got 12 drives because of all the turnovers, scored on half of them. That's a better ratio for a Chiefs defense. D was 8-13 on 3rd down stops and 3-6 in red zone stops. Stafford was really good today. D is better.

Had the lead with 6 minutes left, and the defense promptly shit the bed and gave it up. Took a two minute drill by Pat to pull it out.

Defense has to improve in the 4th qtr. You have the lead late in the game, you need to ****ing hold it.

Not a good day for the defense. They scored a TD and made a few good plays, but they sucked ass for long, long periods of time.

Detroit was averging less than 4 yards a carry this season so far, but today they averaged almost six.

Lots of work to do on Defense.

We are an offensive team. If the offense does their job today this game isn't even close and Detroit probably score closer to 24 rather than 30.

However, in a game where our offense and special teams consistently folded the defense kept us in the game, including with a very heads-up score.

Everything I said was true, and you know it.

Honey Badger and Thornhill are shitty in coverage.

Our front four and linebackers are getting gashed in the run game, more than 200 yards rushing for the Lions today!

Ward is always a step behind his man....and never looks for the ball!

The defense still can't tackle worth a shit...

I could go on and on but what good would it do...

A win is a win...

However, there is a lot of room for improvement. I don't see the defense getting much penetration on run plays. There are always gaping holes in the defensive line and the linebackers rarely are in position to make plays. Ward is always showing his number to the QB and as the #2 (3?) announcing team noted many times, seeing the back of the DBs helmet is an invitation to throw the ball.

Trading for Mahomes was worth it, the other trades that have been made which have cost the Chiefs their #1 pick seem not such a good idea.
