This was pretty interesting on what Andy said about Nick Allegretti:

“Nick is an offensive lineman who can play center or guard—dual-position guy, probably could kick out at tackle. He’s not a small guy, but we like him in those two positions: guard and center. He’ll be working center out here with the first group, and then he’ll get a little guard work in as we go. Extremely intelligent. If the Wonderlic test means something, he’ll be number one on the team. He’s a two-time team captain, and there’s nothing pretty here... he’s a tough kid and moves around well. The one thing that jumps out at you is he’s dirty tough. That’s the one thing—when you watch tape on him without even knowing him, you go, ‘That’s a tough nut right there.’”

So the Chiefs are playing him as a center first, then trying him out at guard secondarily...

I imagine it will be "open competition" for starting center, but Allegretti is the likely favorite, similar to how other battles and training camp have tended to work in Andy Reid's time here. They probably only give it to Reiter if he's awesome and Allegretti is absolutely balls ass lousy.

Again, this is just me speculating, but I think they've seen what they've seen out of Reiter and are satisfied with him as a backup, but they would prefer if at all possible to not have to plug him in at starter for an entire season.

A few quick observations from Sunday's minicamp practice:

~ WR Cody Thompson & S Juan Thornhill have now had two good days in a row.

~ CB Jalin Burrell flashed again as well...making multiple plays on the ball

~ QB Chase Litton fired some strikes to WR Jamal Custis in traffic

Guys like him and McKenzie potentially give us a couple of serious secret ingredients, or at worst excellent depth

REALLY looking for McKenzie to take a quantum leap soon, they didn’t pick him and change his side of the ball without believing in some genuine WOW factor he might possess

trading up for McKenzie when it was generally assumed that he'd be a UDFA should indicate possible starter potential in the eyes of the Chiefs.

I feel a lot better about Veach’s ability to draft after this draft. Speaks was really the only “WTF pick” and he’ll be judged on his performance more-so since he was his first draft pick.

I feel really good about our first 3 picks and Thompson simply because of talent and Andy Reid’s ability to make offensive weapons shine.

But goddamn if all that works out and the Italian sonofabitch starts and does well at C? That would be remarkable

Speaks' stats were just a bit under Chris Jones' first year. Up to him and the coaches to see if he can step forward or if he falls away like K-Pass seems to have done.

If Hill, Watkins, Hardman, and Kelce ever manage to all get on the field at the same time, just look out...
