Wild Animals You Have Seen in North America

We'll keep this dialed into North America since there's a broad scope beyond our shores.

The rules are that you must have seen the animal in the wild while you were not in a closed vehicle or a house. The sighting must have taken place in North America.

No sightings in zoos, no sightings in nature parks where the animal is more or less a display animal.

National park sightings count as long as you meet the other requirements above.

Poll coming. Keep your eyes peeled and be alert.

I just saw a BIG ASS raccoon from 5 feet away while walking home in the dark from a local restaurant, must have weighed 30-35 pounds. Scared the shit out of me. He ran into the sewer after I shined my cell phone flashlight at him.

Does that count for anything other than stained underpants?

I've seen an angry Peacock at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba, an angry buck out in Long Island NY wrestling with a fence post. a purple hummingbird in Mountain View CA flying around my patio dazed and confused, a Quokka and a Road Runner on Rottnest Island in Australia, 100's of fairy penguins squawking and squealing as well in Australia marching off the beach, stingrays in Cayman Island, some Black Tip and White Tip Reef sharks sharks in Bora, a really pissed off cat trying to catch a chipmunk and lastly a really nervous looking Angora Sheep in New Zealand just before I came up behind her.....

Any special 1/2 credits?

My wife and I were walking home one time after dark, and we came across a family of raccoons. There were four or five of them, and they all stood up on their hind legs looking at us in the dusk. We opted to take a different route. I don't think they'd attack, but they weren't small and they outnumbered us.

One of my biggest fears is a rabid animal attacking me. They have had 3 rabid bobcat attacks here in Scottsdale, Cave Creek, Carefree AZ area in the last year. Suckers attacked people walking their dogs and then lunged at them.

So you're saying you can't outrun your wife?

I saw my first black widow spider in the wild today. I had no idea they have reached NE Kansas.
