This one should cover your requirements. I don't know if it's the best laptop, but it's buck for the bang ratio is pretty high:
LUVAGLIO ($1,000,000) Luvaglia is most expensive laptop ever in the market and rank 1st in this list as it is the result of hard work of the experts of the company and they made an absolutely stunning machine which is also most expensive in the world because company and designers of this device give a great option to buyers that they have to chose Diamonds, white Gold and leather of their own requirement and they also give better choice for power button of this most expensive laptop of the world which is made of diamond and rare stones. It has also wide and lengthy display which is about 17 inches but price of this laptop computer is also according to its standard which is 1 million dollars therefore this laptop is also called as one million dollar Luvaglio machine.

Seriously though, your requirements are pretty minimal, so you can probably just look around for a good deal on a quality name brand and you'll be good. I wouldn't go with a chromebook unless you're really strapped though. They're basically just internet browser, check-your-email machines.
If your desktop still works for WoW and anything else more demanding than surfing the internet, you could keep it and get a chromebook to carry around to the TV, the kitchen and the garage for your surfing needs in those rooms.

I just bought one of these for $100 bucks off eBay...to do exactly what you are planning. I have a Mac desktop for home and needed a simple mobile unit for work/travel internet. It has HDMI out for external video and a SD card slot for additional memory.
http://www.laptopmag.com/reviews/lap...eeebook-x205ta "Bottom Line With the X205TA, Asus has set the bar for what a budget laptop should be. With a solid display, category-leading battery life and stereo speakers all packed in a slim, attractive body, the X205TA feels like a premium device -- without the premium price tag. Hopefully, Asus can sort out the touchpad irregularities with a drive update, but even without that update, the EeeBook X205TA is still the $200 laptop to get. More low-priced laptops are coming soon, but it's going to take a concerted effort from other manufacturers to unseat this system." |
