We replaced it with a Traverse, that other than having more interior space (third row, the cargo space wasn't really much more) and better vents in the back for the kids, and of course less miles, wasn't as good of vehicle. Only downside were a few of the trim pieces held dirt from the dirt roads and would run out when I washed it. Nothing deal, but needled my OCD when I washed it. And it was made in the era of GM when when they ran the doors to the top of the roof rather than leaving an "eve" or whatvever. If you hada really strong crosswind, it would make some noise on the highway. But I'm talking 50+MPH crosswind, so doesn't happen much. And if you're not on the highway it's nothing. Maybe I just had a good one, but I had great luck with it. And my wife drove it like Andretti when she worked in Garden, and then when it became a farm truck, it got the ever loving hell beat out of it and never complained. |

I test drove it of course super nice but got up to fifty and starts shimmy just lightly and pulls to the right I think needs alignment not big deal or just needs rotate tires to back. However I couldn't make a deal because my the dealer isn't associated with my financial institute Credit Acceptance so closest dealership that is is in Witchita and that's two hours away. So oh well no real loss. Getting hard to find vehicles under 150000 miles to help get loans also. I like older vehicles that you can actually work on that don't have all that electrical crap that if you change the battery out the thing goes hay wire. I once bloodied up my knuckles on a cold ass day changing a dead battery in a 2016 car that the battery was practically under the dash and no way to get a grip on it to pull it out. WTF.

Trying to avoid loans right now. Between the foundation problem we had to fix, the furnace and ac needing replaced asap, the water heater dying, and the 6 year old refrigerator already being repaired for a third time, I've had enough of financing. All of that took place in a two month stretch.

upfront closing costs negated our savings and we are already fairly low on the interest rate already thanks to 2008.

So what's going on with the car market? Is it simply just a case of cheap money like the housing market is right now (low interest)?

I know some of the factories were shut down and new stuff wasn’t available. So then those customers moved into the low miles used market and those customers moved down and so on and so forth. I figured demand would be more elastic. But I suppose not. |

Took me a months to find a car I liked. Didn’t rush and didn’t pin myself to anything certain except low-ish miles, super clean, and under 20k. I ended up buying an old man 2015 Toyota Avalon Touring for 17k last week. It had 52,000 on the odometer. Wasn’t set on an Avalon but it checked all my boxes. Cruises really nice.
Good luck on your search. |
