I've waited 50 years for the next two weeks to be about our team,I'm taking in as much of it as I possibly can!

Part of the enjoyment of reaching the SB is the 2-week slobberfest about the teams. The 30% of Americans who now have no idea who Patrick Mahomes is will all know he's the greatest athlete on the planet by February 2nd. That'll be fun to watch and it'll put KC on the map.
I mean, OF COURSE. The national media forgets about KC the moment they can. We have two ****ing weeks of limelight. Soak it up.

Though, I'm able to filter out all the SF hype the media will be employing to make the narrative about an equal matchup that could go either way (The way they slobbered on Henry's knob all week)

Though, I do think the best two teams in the league are playing the SB for the first time in a while.
It won't be 50%, it will be more 70-30 and most of the Chiefs talk will be negative.

The media are Big City, progressive, elitists and SF is the home of the Brave New World's Technocracy. Of course they will favor the SF team.

KC is flyover country, gun owners, uneducated hog farmers, SUV and Camaro driving people who vote for people like Trump. In short; Rednecks and Hicks. They will not give favorable coverage even if they like Mahomes...……..they hate you and your little Midwest city. Actually, they really hate that KC has Mahomes and that he isn't playing for SF, LA or NY.

I don't know what media you've been watching, but right now the media is all about Patrick Mahomes and the #1 storyline is that EVERYONE wants Andy Reid to win one. The 49ers are a good football team but there is no star power. There is no backstory. They're about as boring a football team as you could get going into the Super Bowl.

Who do you think the media is talking about today? Mahomes, or Jimmy Garrapolo or Bosa?

I can assure you that everyone I know, most of them not Chiefs fans, are all talking about Mahomes. The media is calling them the Golden State Warriors because of how excitingly fast they can put up points and yards. Fans this season have been bitching over and over about how Collinsworth and Romo won't stop talking about Mahomes.

The Chiefs have star power
They have excitement
They have back stories and sob stories

The 49ers have none of that. Most casual fans probably can't even name a single player on that team. We're going to dominate the media for the next few weeks. Raheem Mostert had an elite game yesterday and yet the media is locked on Mahomes. We are must see TV. Enjoy it, folks.

You're on drugs. I'm a big city, progressive, coastal, liberal elitist who has no connection to Kansas City aside from the Chiefs, so I don't view this with the chip on the shoulder that you do.

The national media loves Patrick Mahomes. They love the Andy Reid storyline. They love the Kansas City Chiefs storyline. What negative coverage is there going to be? Give me some evidence of this.

(And just now in the background on my computer, some national pundit is calling Mahomes an "alien" who is going to the best QB in history and is the best athlete in any sport right now.)

I made a poor headline choice, but I was also kinda hoping people would use this thread:
https://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=328356
to post good Chiefs news stories people found interesting. So we can find great videos & articles without having to listen to Skip or Stephen A Smith or other types of media nonsense.

The world is not as binary as you think. Other than a few commenters looking for unique hot takes the Mahomes and Reid love is much greater than anyone in SF is getting. NFL is popular in part because it's a useful distraction from boring or depressing "real world" topics like politics.

I don't know what rock you crawled out from under but Mahomes is the best thing to happen to the NFL since the forward pass. And the national media knows it and gushes over him and the Chiefs every day.

I’ve listened to a lot of sports radio today, and we’ve gotten far more coverage so far. I‘m guessing he’s just one of those DC regulars that always try to turn everything into some kind of political discussion.
