What kind of player gets to decide "I don't want to block"? Or "you can only use me here"?
What coach would even put up with that shit?

Watch film of the Saints when he was there. Sean Payton did line him up inside. Graham missed a lot of blocks. Lotta "whoops, I missed," blocks. Then Pete Carroll tried to make him block. A lot. Graham's production tanked compared to anything he did in NO. Again, he lasted only, what, two years as a Seahawk? Last year with the Packers basically the same thing. Essentially, IMO, he's an over-sized WR and not a TE at all. Unfortunately, he's not fast enough to get separation from a true CB; his effectiveness is against LBs and safeties. Maybe he's really an over-sized slot receiver. Whatever. Point being, he wants all the perks of being a superstar TE, but doesn't want to do any of the dirty work of the position. You only have to watch any game film of him since he became a Saint. But you're right; his attitude about blocking is probably why he's been bouncing from team to team since leaving the Saints. |

I have no problem using the strengths of a player but I'll be goddamned if I as a coach would EVER let a player tell me what they are and are not going to do.

Gronk is what Jimmy Graham would be if he blocked. What a waste of a career.

To each their own, I guess. One of them will be remembered by future generations as the greatest player of his age. The other one will be a forgotten footnote outside of New Orleans.

Um, only if they stop keeping NFL passing statistics. I’m certainly not arguing against Brady’s throne position. I don’t even like the ****ing Saints. But the assertion that Drew Brees is a bad person based on his contractual situation is idiotic.

As we are all too painfully aware, you need a complete team to win the big games. The Patriots have a leg up over everybody else because their QB doesn't demand enough cash to hamstring the organization's ability to get the other players he needs to be successful. I don't think Brees is a bad person; not at all. He wants to get paid, and he's getting paid. Nothing wrong with that. But it has come at the expense of what could have been a much greater legacy. The day will come when he will probably wish he'd taken less to accomplish more. |

Nobody holds a grudge in any sport like Rodgers. When it comes to Rodgers, grudges do not merrily float away. They stick. They grow. They refuel.
No, Rodgers would not forget that McCarthy had helped perpetuate his four-and-a-half-hour wait in the NFL draft green room the year prior. His nationally televised embarrassment. McCarthy, then the 49ers offensive coordinator, chose Alex Smith No. 1 overall. Not Rodgers. No, Rodgers would not take it as a funny accident. "Aaron's always had a chip on his shoulder with Mike," says Ryan Grant, the Packers' starting running back from 2007 to 2012. "The guy who ended up becoming your coach passed on you when he had a chance. Aaron was upset that Mike passed on him—that Mike actually verbally said that Alex Smith was a better quarterback." Ha. I read that some years back that Rodgers still hadnt gotten over McCarthy passing on him for Alex Smith when McCarthy was OC for the 49ers at the time. As if it was McCarthy that made the call. lol I assumed it was just BS back then. Im not a McCarthy backer but damn thats ****ed up. Its amazing they had the little success they did when the QB hates the coach from day one, and never lets it go that he was OC for a team that passed on him in the draft. |
