Wife of NFL player pleads innocent in prescription drug case
Greeley, CO (Sports Network) - Julie Romanowski, wife of Denver Broncos linebacker Bill Romanowski, pleaded innocent Tuesday to charges she illegally obtained diet drugs for her husband.
A district court judge in Castle Rock, Colorado scheduled a four-day trial in March for Julie Romanowski, who faces eight felony counts punishable by one-to-three years in jail and fines between $1,000 and $100,000.
Authorities allege she and others conspired to obtain the diet drug, Phentermine, for her husband.
A motions hearing for Bill Romanowski has been scheduled for November 6. The much-maligned linebacker faces four felonies charges for allegedly using diet drugs prescribed for somebody else.
According to the indictment, Romanowski worked with his wife, Loretta Johnson and possibly some other unnamed people to get Phentermine seven times between September 1998 and January 1999.
Romanowski also allegedly agreed to cover up the scheme with the others if it was ever uncovered.
