No. He's not going to say that.

I'd lean Crennel, but Pioli would have had to sign off on it. They're all going to have to work together and be on the same page in terms of player evaluation. If your OC tells you that your backup tackle has no burst and they like a guy on the practice squad better (IE Muir on Gaither) and you then cut the tackle only to watch him go to another team and play great, then you don't have people on the same page.

Based on the book War Room, Daboll ended his Patriots tenure on a bitter note, as he was pissed at Belichick for not promoting him. I thought the whole leaving to work with Mangini thing would basically not sit well with Pioli, but I guess they worked that out.

He's also not afraid to stand up for his own opinion, as one of the stories in the book mentioned that he fought against Belichick's desire to draft Chad Jackson out of Florida, thinking the guy was no good...

Here are his comments on Chad Henne last year when taking over the Dolphins O:

Quote:
“Well, Chad, yeah, he’s on our roster,” Daboll said.

Ouch.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement of the incumbent quarterback.

Mind you, Daboll, who was pretty animated throughout this trot-out opportunity, dialed things down significantly when discussing Henne.

“Again, I know here we’re going to research every available player, whether it’s draft or free agency,” he said, “but I’m excited to work with Chad. I think he has some tools that we can develop and whoever else is out there, that’s what we’ll do.”

I can't fathom why people want Orton.

Orton can move the ball between the 20's but is worse than Cassel in the red-zone. Maybe Orton gets you another regular season win or two moving KC into the 7-9 win category and an 18-21 draft pick. Worse chance of drafting a QBOTF. Better chance of "we are close lets keep things the same."

I get the reason, in principle. I hesitate to praise the OC hire as well as all of you.

BUT

We have no idea if he'll be a cassel supporter, or propellent to QB change. How on Earth can anyone say they know this means we're screwed and keeping cassel? The offseason hasn't even started and everyone's labeling it as a huge failure already. It's ****ing silly, that's what it is.

anyway, carry on. I'll just back off for a few weeks until something substantial happens to talk about.

Because if you have Orton, Charles and Richardson - having Orton move you between the 20s may just be be good enough to do some serious damage, even in the playoffs.

Once you get down to the 15, you can lean hard on that 2-headed monster in the backfield. And moving between the 20s keeps your defense off the field to boot. Suddenly your defense has improved a great deal as well.

Moving between he 20's may be all it takes to take the Chiefs from an 8 win team to the best team in football that doesn't have a superstar QB (that includes the Ravens, 49ers and Falcons). From there, we can continue to look for the star QB.

I don't see what's farfetched or unreasonable about any of that.

As long as Kyle was pursued first and he decided to play elsewhere, then I'm not opposed to bringing in another FA like DA.

You hope with more time to work with the receivers he has that the chemistry in the red zone clicks. Hell, he hit McClain right in the hands, and McClain dropped it. He hit Bowe right in the numbers, and Bowe dropped it. You hope more timing due to more practice together makes those become catches for scores.

Without doing the research, he was pretty good with the Bronco's early. Then they started getting rid of all of his receivers and bringing in young guys. Red Zone efficiency is going to go down when you get rid of a Brandon Marshall and replace him with a rookie.
