The 49ers have expressed to others that a deal for QB Alex Smith is effectively complete. Can't be finalized til league year begins 3/12

Jason La Canfora ‏@JasonLaCanfora

so it's not official, both clubs view it at as it's effectively done. I do not know the other team. KC and JAX are 2 teams that make sense

THAT'S your argument? "The analysts say so"??????

Think for yourself man. Read some of the other threads on this site that show how often the analysts get it COMPLETELY WRONG.

Come back after you've done your homework. "The analysts say so" is the weakest and lamest argument you could possibly come up with. You should be embarrassed.

I do NOT wanna spend a first pick on geno when everyone is saying we shouldn't. We have to get the bpa and pick a second round qb who can learn under reid and alex smith. that'll make our team better short term and long term.

can we at least clarify something?

Reid was great with 1 QB: McNabb
he went to a superbowl with 1 QB: McNabb

McNabb was a first round pick

no other QB drafted by reid has done jack ****ing shit besides getting flipped to suckers for draft picks...

there is zero evidence that Reid can draft a mid-round nobody and develop him into a superbowl QB

Once again, you are placing far too much trust in guys like Mel Kiper and his ilk. Kiper still has Jarvis Jones as his #1 overall, despite the fact that Jones has spinal stenosis. Kiper didn't even list Manti Te'o in his list of the top 5 guys who really need to do well at their Pro Days in order to make up for bad performances at the NFL Combine, despite the fact that Te'o sucked so bad at the Combine that many people have him dropping completely out of the first round.

Kiper made up his mind a long time ago that the Chiefs should draft Luke Jackoff, and now he won't be bothered with silly little details like the fact that the Chiefs have absolutely no need for an offensive lineman.

Thing is mcnabb was expected to go top half of the first round but almost nobody is giving that grade to geno. So it's just the lack of talent at qb position this year. It sucks. So we have to pick bpa and get a qb at 33rd pick. That's why a matt barkley pick to me is just as good because they have similar value

Hate to break it to ya but if it plays out how it's looking as in letting Albert go and drafting the best available LT with that #1 pick then we haven't improved jack s#!t. Short term or long term. It's a lateral move.

Hooray mediocrity!

Reid & Dorsey don't get it because they just got here. To a very small extent, I get that. But what they don't see is the big picture. The big picture problem is that it's been since 1984 when the Chiefs last drafted a 1st round QB. That is the formula for winning a SB. Especially in today's league. All this time they've gone out and acquired the Alex Smith's of the world. It doesn't work!

And the one time where they have completely control to get the best QB in this class, they're going to pass.

They deserve everything they get.

It is simply beyond me that all of these talking heads aren't all over his jockstrap as the number 1 guy in the draft. .
This is exactly right! It absolutely boggles my mind that someone could look at Geno's stats and athleticism and say he's not worthy of the first pick! This isn't Alex Tanney we're talking about here. This is the guy that hung 600+ yards and 8 TD's on Baylor...and I don't care how bad Baylor is...that's crazy good!

Try trusting this site. Try trusting your own eyes. Try trusting your own brain. Read the other threads. Watch the YouTube videos. Think about what the Chiefs need more than anything else. Try reading the thread that talks about the impact of players at various positions: it points out that in the last 12 years, 2 linemen were drafted #1 overall (Mario Williams and Jake Long), and their teams did NOTHING.

This site is an excellent source of information. You should try using it and using your brain instead of just coming in and parroting what you hear Mel Kiper say.

At least someone here has half a brain and isn't drooling over the "Must take QB at#1 regardless" nonsense like SNR.

nothing you've said is true

Geno is the consensus #1 QB and top 10 pick on everyone's board sans those idiots kiper and mcshay...

and 'bpa' is complete horseshit...

never mind that Barkley is a top 10 pick too...

I never read kiper's scouting reports. I've read many scouting reports and there's a consensus that geno is a late first round pick. someone might reach and pick earlier but that doesn't mean we should do that when we have the NUMBER ONE PICK! that pick is a big deal and i don't want to waste it on a guy who doesn't grade out even close to a legit 1st pick qb. I'm telling you the difference between geno and the top 5 is negligible. I acknowledge he might be the best of the group but that group is decently talented. Not top end talent but there's still still successful qbs in this draft. Andy reid said that same thing. No way we should waste a first pick on a geno.

Again, tell me WHO you would draft with that pick.
