The defense's job becomes easier if the QB is able to sustain drives and run down the clock. The punter does not go on the field if the QB is able to sustain drives and run down the clock. The team bounces back from the fumble if the QB is able to sustain drives and run down the clock.

Haley shouldn't be on the hot seat until next season, at least. If there a lot of injuries, Pioli may give Haley a mulligan. If the team isn't winning next season, Haley is probably going to be gone.

2009 was a mess, as was the 2nd round of the 2010 draft and most likely the Muir as OC experiment (although I'm not sure that was Pioli's decision). Everything else looks reasonably legit. Or is there more? I guess one could complain about the unused cap room but I've never been a "sign everybody" guy.

I think Haley could be in real trouble, even without a complete collapse.

While I can't pretend it didn't happen, I would be willing to forgive Pioli if he continues to make good decisions in the future. I will, however, be severely pissed if we pass on another franchise QB in the draft. (Not saying Pioli has done that, just saying that is unforgivable).
