Interesting video, and apparently there are several more on the topic.

You gotta give the man credit. Makes up a fictional city for an allegory and 2000+ years later, people still think it may be real. Nevermind the fact that literally not one other mention of this super advanced civilization exists in any other writings.

Pretty much considering Timaeus is discussing allegories and the socratic method in comparing Atlantis with ancient Athens.

Critias is noted for Plato basically using Atlantis as a stand in for Syracuse.

Its amazing how long people will spend looking for some place that was in a book. I wonder if a thousand years from now people will be doing archaeological digs searching for Hogwarts.

Pretty interesting. Part 2 is also worth the watch. It certainly checks a lot of the boxes on Platos description.

That isn't to say that there weren't lost cities known only to myth. Iram/Ubar, Troy, and Jericho are all cities that were once considered only myth but were discovered to be historical places.

Was just about to mention those. There's also that ancient city off the Indian coast thought to have been a myth until recently

Welp, I'm convinced. I've been watching a lot of stuff by Randall Carlson on YouTube, he talks about cataclysmic types of sudden weather events that permanently changed the earth, and that much of what we see today occurred suddenly in a very short period of time. This idea scares the crap out of mainstream science who prefer to believe that virtually all geological changes occur very slowly.

If you guys haven't played the Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis game I highly recommend checking it out. It's fun as shit with great voice acting.

It also has one of the best Indy lines ever:

"Once I'm a God, I'm sending you straight to hell."
