If the Chiefs keep doing the FA dance next year, then one can compare them to the Jets/Dolphins. My guess is we start to become a franchise that focuses mostly on strictly draft.
Yeah, I'd be really surprised if that is their plan. I'm pretty sure this year is to fill the holes and then they'll be draft focused from here out.

Neither the Dolphins or the Jets invested as heavily in free agency in '09 and beyond (Dolphins) or '10 and beyond (Jets) as they did in '08 and '09, respectively.

The problem they faced is that they drafted lower in the frst round as a result, and didn't find the talent to replace the aging players they initially signed to have those quick turnaround seasons, and their records have declined since.

Now, we can hope that Dorsey is a big reason for the Packers recent success at finding guys in the 20s and later that have beocme big time players if the Chiefs find themselves winning as many games as some, if not most here think they can.

On the other hand, if Alex Smith plays at the level I expect in Reid's offense, this team isn't going to win more than about 5 games, so that is not going to be a major concern.

Even with a productive running game and defense ranked 8-12?

I think we can with 8 with Alex if those things come together.

If the defense is average or worse, however, I can see 5 wins.

I'm actually quite curious about the running game, because it's entirely possible all this OL shuffling could **** up that too.

I think Jamaal Charles is going to have a spectacular season in Reid's offense.

I also think that Cyrus Gray will become the second back and be a big contributor in this offense.

But I also think that Reid's offense is going to ask more from Alex Smith than Smith is capable of, and his efficiency is going to take a huge hit, and he will have turn overs and mistakes that will cost this team games.

But there's also a chance that Reid begins to recognize Smith's limitations in his offense, and he adapts, and we will see an offense that passes far less, and doen't stretch the field in the way Reid's offenses have in the past, and this team wins 8 games as a result of that adjustment.
