Get familiar with Luke Joeckel. Mock drafts have repeatedly sent Joeckel to Kansas City -- along with a quarterback here and there -- and Mel Kiper's latest is no different. ******************************************************* ESPN Mel Kiper Mock Draft: 1) Kansas City Chiefs: Luke Joeckel Analysis: He has started every game at left tackle since he arrived on campus, protects the passer with what could almost be perceived as ease and has zero durability questions after three years against very good competition. Joeckel has been so good, a big question about him at this stage might be whether he's truly nasty enough, a point of pride among elite O-linemen. The kid is a gifted technician at left tackle, and the Chiefs could go with the strategy of drafting their left tackle for the next 10 years here, then taking a shot on the best QB available with the first pick in Round 2. Two needs, two picks. We'll see, but QB value at this draft slot isn't in play right now. ***************************************************** NFL.com Gil Brandt Mock Draft: 1. Kansas City Chiefs - Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M The Chiefs, who are likely to lose offensive lineman Branden Albert to free agency, take the best player available in the draft. 3. Oakland Raiders - Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia With lots of needs, the Raiders take their chances with Smith, who carries some risk, but offers a significant potential reward. *************************************************** NFLNetwork: 1) Kansas City Chiefs: Luke Joeckel ****************************************************** ESPN Bill Williamson: 1. Kansas City: Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M My take: There is no wrong answer for this pick right now. It is wide open, especially since there are no perfect position fits for the Chiefs. ***************************************************** SI.com: The Chiefs, by virtue of holding the No. 1 overall pick, will have first crack at the standout Texas A&M offensive tackle. ******************************************************* Draft Countdown: 1) Kansas City Chiefs: Luke Joeckel ******************************************************** |

Problem is that we are not in an obvious 1st round QB year. Although I believe that Tyler Wilson is just that..... Not Geno Smith.

Only thing I don't like about Wilson is he has a funky delivery when the ball comes out.

He also tends to put the ball in the defenders hands when he needs to push the ball downfield. Better arm than this?: And this is proper toughness in the pocket: This is a potential Casselish fetal position dude: Watch as he shortens his stance and throwing motion when he sees the defender come through in front of him. He also cuts off the deep option and dumps it to the safety read. Not cool. |

The ONLY one thing I don't like about Wilson is his head injuries. That's a fairly big red flag to me, otherwise there is very little I don't like about him.

The clip you showed of Geno Smith there was no one near him. The bowl game for Geno bothered me big time.

But here's a couple of him standing in the pocket, moving with the pocket with pressure all over him: And just how does the Bowl game bother you? |
