9ers run game will be among the best no matter who they go with. Mostert is one of like 5 backs who have looked brilliant for them in the last 2 years.

They’ll just have to find another RB to not hand the ball to when they are up 10 in the 4th quarter.

Mostert has Jamaal Charles like speed (though not his vision) and can score from anywhere on the field. The Niners don't currently have a back who has that type of game-changing speed. Knowing Shanny, it's quite possible he will find a UDFA with 4.3 speed because, well, it's what his family just seems to do best.

I really did not understand the snaps Shanny was giving to Coleman over Mostart in the postseason. It reminded me of the snaps Jones kept getting over Charles in 2010. Jones was solid, but it never made sense as to why Charles wasn't getting more snaps.

Jones probably got too many carries overall, but I always thought in a weird way, he might have made Charles more effective. Made it so he didn't have to carry the load, and Jones was a completely different back. When Charles came in it was like seeing a relief pitcher with 100 mph fastball. A really hard adjustment to make, and Charles averaged over 6 ypc with Jones as the starter.

Mostert was kind of the same, he didn't start a regular season game. Although I'm not sure if it's quite the same as it seems like all the Shanahan backs are somewhat similar. Mostert can flat out fly, but so can Breida. Mostert sure looked like the best of the 3 backs though.

Now that Breida is with the Phins they’ll lack that home run speed out of the backfield if they lose Mostert (unless you count Deebo).

One question is would Mostert even have a real market as a 28 year old RB if he did look elsewhere?

I totally missed that Breida went to the Dolphins. They didn't draft a RB either. I'm sure they'll just find some undrafted FA to bring in and run for 1000 yards. It's the Shanahan way.

That it is.

It still gives me too much satisfaction to finally have a Chiefs team that obliterated that strategy in the Super Bowl. Watching Eric Hicks bite on those Plummer boots is forever etched into my nightmares.
