Adding 20% to Gonzalez's yardage totals that season would give him 1500 yards, far and away a record

He's not.
Why do you think 4,000 yards used to be a big deal and now half the league's swinging dicks can do it? For ****'s sake assholes like Derek Carr are completing at 70%. The only guy doing that 25 years ago was Steve Young.

I remember when Gates was in his prime and everyone thought he was going to overtake Gonzo on the stats list. I always said I wanted to see him do it for as long as Tony has been doing it. We see where that ended.
Everyone gets topped eventually, and at some point TG will be dethroned as the GOAT. I don’t see anyone currently that is going to be that individual, and that includes Kelce.

I agree Gonzalez changed the position. I could argue because of that he had years for the rest of the league to catch up which I'm not. But if you don't think Kelce can do everything Gonzalez did you're goofy. He is the same caliber player. |

Tony jumped ship, wanted to go to a contender. Then the Chiefs were in the playoffs and his new team wasn’t. Lol

His hands aren't as good. He fumbles from time to time (Gonzalez NEVER fumbled). He gets hurt more. He doesn't bring in contested catches as well, and he's not as good at going up to get the ball. Athletically they are certainly comparable, but there have been plenty of tight ends who have come along since Gonzalez who were more athletic. Most of them didn't have his intangibles.

Show me a year where Kelce was 60% ahead of the next best receiver at his position.

Saying Kelce is in Gonzalez's class is like saying Matt Ryan is in Peyton Manning's class because he threw for 5,000 yards and 40 TD two years ago.
If Matt Ryan had played in the NFL before 2000 he would have been...I dunno...Drew Bledsoe or something.
