Is it time to replace Arrowhead with a dome?

The cold, crappy Dec/Jan. KC weather doesn't appear to provide any real home field advantage anymore.

At least the fans wouldn't be so miserable in a nice climate controlled facility. No more thousands of no shows or leaving at halftime on bad weather days.

One was for the renovation of Arrowhead and Kauffman Stadium, which passed, and the second measure was to build a roof over Arrowhead, which failed.

I voted for the renovation and against the roof. On the roof, I wanted the Chiefs to have a natural winter advantage over the Raiders and Chargers. Making California teams play in cold weather is usually an advantage. Secondly, if the Chiefs wanted a roof that badly, the Hunt family has the money to pay for it themselves. The money the Hunts put into the renovation all went to luxury suites and rich **** amenities. Didn't affect the average joe fan at all.
It was removed before construction began. Several factors. The engineer were worried about two things:
What material could be used to form a half moon
How to keep this material from flying away/breaking apart in high winds/storms etc.

Bumping this because of the timeliness.

Would you be more inclined to attend these cold/bad weather games if Arrowhead had a dome? It would obviously make for a far batter fan experience.

Thoughts?

I hope that fans show up in full force regardless of the weather.

Funny you should bump this. I was just thinking this afternoon how glad I am that it's Arrowhead Stadium and not the "Insert Brand Here" Dome.

I really like what the Vikings have done with their stadium.

I wish there was a way to keep the outside feel while having some sort of cover. I can handle 30-40 degrees but the wind goes right thru me.

Weatherly speaking-

How many times in a 5 year period does it get below 20F in KC. Not many.
How many times in a 5 year period will it snow on game day? Not many.

Dome in KC. No.
But I am sure Minnesota will loan you Bud Grant for Thursday night.

Do I need to give you the Minnesota temp scale? Use the cold to your advantage!

Bud Grant. that's awesome.

certain coaches just "Fit" with a certain team. Whether its because of nostalgia or what.....he just fits and always think of him when thinking of the Vikings.
Sort of like Madden with the Vikings and Shula with the Dolphins.

That would have been super cool, innovative and ahead of its time

A precursor to the retractable domes of today.
