Well....chances were paper thin before, but this hire pretty much crushes any possible chance of Peyton Manning in KC. There's no way he'd want to play here now. **** our lives.

If DaBoll doesn't get this job, he might have to take another position coach job.
He, however, could get another shot at an OC job in a year or two. If he fails miserbly here, after his stints at Cleveland and Miami, the chance that he gets another OC job become miniscule, and the chance that he eventually advances to HC become non-existent.

All who are hating on this hire are spouting about things they do not know. He coordinated Hillis’ one mammoth year, and turned Bush into an actual running back. When given the reins to the offense unteathered by Sparano he had Matt Moore playing like a competent quarterback.
Just because the hire isn’t Al Saunders is the reason most small minded people are hating. |

I totally disagree with the idea that coordinators aren't important. I really disagree with that to be honest... unless your head coach is an advanced strategic mind like Belichick.
And this is especially true when hiring the coordinator is that is on the opposite side of the ball as your head coach. That guy has to be able to run the show on that side of the ball. Unless your QB is Peyton Manning... and even then it's not like Tom Moore and Howard Mudd didn't know what they were doing. The public opinion in this place is rolling downhill to the point where people act like the QB does pretty much everything, and that's it. |

So in review, the reasons to be optimistic about the Daboll hire:
1. He was part of the staff during Cassel's best year since high school. 2. His NFL career is so close to slamming to a halt, he's bound to try really really hard. Did I miss anything?

In 5 years, the Belichick tree will be a dried out shrub and if this guy were still languishing as a QB coach somewhere, he'd get little more than cursory interviews while the next big thing moves up in the world. Give me a list of guys that flamed out as OCs with 2 different teams, spent a couple years demoted and then were promoted back to be successful OCs elsewhere. He'd be a complete ****wit to turn down million dollar raise on the off chance that he can get another OC interview in 3 years.

I just don't agree with the reasons that people are pessimistic. At the end of the day, I'm pretty apathetic about it. I guess after being a fan for 40 years of suck, I just can't get too worked up one way or the other.

I just honestly refuse to believe we'll be saddled with another year of Cassel fail...no matter how much the evidence and ****ed up fatboy Pioli logic point to it.
It's amazing that these people can be so dense and blind. |

Evidently he's in such high demand that he'd be capable of pissing on a million bucks, taking a QB coach gig and biding his time until the next GM comes banging on his door. With a track record like his, he can afford to be choosy. We should all consider ourselves fortunate that he chose the Chiefs, who only coincidentally have the one GM in football that sees "coached Matt Cassel to mediocrity under Bill Belichick" as the most important line on your resume.
