Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

Sugar free, fat free jello chocolate pudding is the bomb. In fact an entire massive bowl of that shit has only 140 calories.

Not really low carb, though.

Usually something like that. Sometimes they will work up to a 1rm or 3rm. Other times it will be sets of 3 or 5 reps at a % of your 1rm.

I remember doing bench press one day 10 sets of 2 reps. We worked our way up until we couldn't complete 2 reps on our own and then worked back down if necessary. It was was fun & different doing a heavy bench day in a group setting like that.

Nope. Pudding didn't make the cut. The Jello with Heavy Whipping cream has saved me quite a few times. It takes care of the sweet tooth.

The Atkins bars are where the carbs come in, but some of those are sugar alchohal and I think that's something else where each person's body treats it differently. I just focus on the strips.

Let's take their physiques out of the picture from the one posted and look at Crossfit as a sport. Although, those dudes physiques are ridiculous, steroids or not. And if you don't think that, you yourself must be ****ing huge!

Until Crossfit gets a serious drug testing policy, you can bet your money many top competitors looking to get paid for working out are doing anabolic cycles. And I can't say I blame them or really care if they are juicing. But let's not pretend Crossfit is this holier than thou sport that is all friendship and fun. It's a competition and people do whatever they can get away with to win.

I don't disagree with your logic here at all. Are people claiming that everyone is clean and angelic? They may be. I make no such claim.

Fair enough. Kyle Kasperbauer, who finished 2nd to Froning in 2012, works out at my gym & he clearly does more than the WOD every day. It's not a secret at all. The dude is a beast. I didn't even know that was a thing. I think most everyone does more than the WOD & it's not a secret.

Yes, regular people see these top competitors all the time and think Crossfit is a magic solution. That was Sac's claim in this thread. Can it work, yes. Can it work to the level of the guys in that picture? Sure, with good genetics and gear. I could take the most gear in the world and still not look like that. Doesn't mean they don't work hard it's just clearly something that most people don't really think about when judging this sport. It is clearly a "dirty sport" if you'd like to call it that. Or one could argue that it's a fair sport because without a testing policy, you are free to do what you like so it isn't against the rules to juice.

I see no reason Crossfit would ever adopt a drug testing policy. They get momentum and people working out by seeing these top competitors. A rash of positive drug tests would really dampen the enthusiasm for working out and building physiques of the everyday joe, which is how these gyms stay open.
