I’m currently on vacation in Subic Bay in the Philippines. I absolutely love the ex pat veteran community out here. I’ve met Americans who haven’t been back home in 20 years. I came out to this area in January and loved it. I don’t know if I’d stay out here without visiting the States but the retired people out here seem to love it. Just avoid the Muslim areas and big cities and the Philippines is awesome.

I think I'm going to move to Springfield, retire in my grandparents' house and die in it.

I've lived many places in the US. I've lived in KC area, Texas, Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Illinois, Northern Cal and Southern Cal. I've spent lots of time in Florida also. The best place I ever lived was Okinawa, Japan. Great weather, great food, beautiful land, oceans, beaches, fresh fish and vegetables, nice people, and almost non existent crime. I'd go back and retire there in a heartbeat. From there its fairly easy to travel to SE Asia, Austrailia, etc.

I'm not sure but I'll bet most are pretty inexpensive. There were some guys I was stationed with that lived there much longer and bought homes. They were nice homes and there is no way they could have afforded them on what we made if they weren't reasonable.

I don't plan on moving unless I need a survival bunker in case of a war. I've been looking into locations for that. |

I plan on semi-retiring and traveling the world a digital vagabond - living wherever I feel like as long as like, then moving on to the next place - hopefully in a year or two.

Oh for sure yes. LOLOLOLOLOL
Make my money in California, spend it elsewhere. I'd love to have a place on a lake in Minnesota for the summers, maybe the Carolinas/Georgia/Virginia the rest of the year. |

Mid 40's here. I certainly won't be retiring in Southern California, that's for damn sure, too crowded here.
I want rural property, my wife is on board with that for the most part as well. Going to have to stick with warmer climates though, my wife is finished with Winters and cold weather. She grew up in the North East. We have family in the Carolina's and Virginia, so most likely it will be somewhere back in that area. I'm thinking Western South Carolina. Greenville area perhaps. I need Mountains. If not there, probably Texas or Tennessee. We have family there as well... We may retire in our 50's, we are fairly financially secure right now. |
