This is very accurate. But it’s always been hard to see guys in the 6-10 range getting paid the same as the 1-3 guys. But it’s how the league goes.

We went from 3 decades of mostly sub par to the greatest to ever play the position. A person who is redefining the position and can literally do everything any HC would ask a QB to do to near perfection.

I think it's hard for most people to truly comprehend what we're watching...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I wonder if a trend will start where teams trade their good quarterback that they drafted to draft another rookie deal.

If you hit the pick, you basically get an extra 35–40m in cap space that teams with a second contract QB don’t have.

I was thinking Daniel Jones may have been the first.

Trade to who? Why would another team want to trade assets for that guy and then have to pay them....when they could just draft their own guy?

I sure as hell would. If you don't have a Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, Hurts, or Herbert, find a team like the donx that will overpay for your completely-replaceable, slapdick QB. Then, sign some castoff (like Geno Smith) and hit the draft.

GMs like Paton not only exist, they remain employed after such trades.

Although the Russell Wilson deal was catastrophic last year, I expect the Broncos to bounce back this year. Sean Payton is a really good coach. Russell Wilson is a good QB as well.

DEN will surpass the Raiders for the third best team in the division. Their ceiling will be giving the Chargers a run for their money. Other than that, we all know what team owns the AFC.

The Chargers had Dan Fouts, Drew Brees, Phillip Rivers and 3 years of Justin Herbert and have 8 total playoff wins in all those years to show for it

It would take smart and patient ownership, but the truth of the matter is that you're not winning Super Bowls without a top ten QB minimum in this NFL-and if that QB is no longer on his rookie deal, he'll have to be top five.

If your guy IS NOT top 5 or top 10 on their rookie deal, do not pay him. There's no point, it only cripples the rest of your roster.

I don't care if I just have to let Jones walk for nothing, I don't pay that mediocrity. I can get mediocre for a lot less.

Actually, I guess they'd probably get like a compensatory 3rd if they did that. Better than nothing.

Fouts never had a defense.

Marty gave up on Brees too soon.

Rivers was a choker.

I believe in Sean Payton really. I watched RW play well too many years to think he's going to tank with better coaching. Last year was shockingly bad. (I haven't seen a collapse like that since the "Dream Team" when Andy was in Philly )

Those guys give you a chance, though. Kirk Cousins, Daniel Jones, et al. do not.
