$105.58

Filled my gas tank today and went over the hundred dollar mark for the first time. $105.58.

The crazy thing is the price will continue to rise.

Anyone else here old enough to remember when the gallon counter on the pump spun around faster than the dollar counter?

It never fails to amaze me that I'm paying two and a half dollars a gallon more now than I was when I moved here a decade ago. 40 bucks to fill up the tank in my light truck.

Wow...25-30 gallon tank?

The most I've ever spent filling up was last week. Spent $46.

THat's my thought too. I live in CA and still have yet to crest $50, but it's been $4 gas for a while here.

I was in line to get gas and this guy with a 4x4 Dodge Ram was filling up his. He had to stop after $100 and restart again to finish his tank. I never knew Gas stations put a limit to "pay-at-the-pump".

There's some weird law in my actual municipality that stops tanks from pumping after 30 gallons or something like that. I've always thought that was odd.

Yukon Denali XL. I pumped around 28 gallons at $3.75/gallon.
The pump shut off at $75.00; had to re-insert my debit card and start again. Got another $30.58 into it before it was full. It is just plain weird paying that much for a tank of gas.

When I worked at a Vickers station, 64 to 68, I pumped gas at .17 a gallon (the lowest it ever made it, there were "gas wars" on price). We also checked the tires, vacuumed the car, washed the windows and checked under the hood. If the female driver had a short skirt, the windows would get washed more than once.

They use to have $50 limit at some stations here until $50 would not even start the pump.

I broke a record this morning myself. $55. I'll be driving the SUV a lot less than the clunker I got.

I know it's hard to agree at this time when the cost of fuel makes finances so much tighter, but I think this will ultimately be a good thing, much like the 70s embargo forced a dynamic shift in the US auto industry, we need this to force change. I know it would be unpopular, but if people truly believe oil/gas prices are going higher, then we really need to add a $1-$3 gas tax to fund public transport that works and or alternative technologies. Yes it would hurt in the short term but is the right long term plan(which is why the politicians will never do it).
