I broke down and got one of these just a few minutes ago. If anyone has one and has some tips, this is a good place and I'd really appreciate it. I really loved my Instinct, but everything pointed to this phone giving the iphone a run for the money.

Sprint GPS is a huge feature for my money, and the NFL programs available kick ass. This phone has an OS like nothing I've ever seen on a cell phone. It is just ****ing ridiculous how easy it is. The screen is brilliant, and I love the pinch feature to zoom in and out ala the iphone.

There are some definite downsides to it. The keyboard is ridiculously small, and it should be horizontal rather than vertical. There aren't many apps to this point but the phone just released yesterday so I'm confident that will change. No video playback to this point, but it's coming from everything reported. It also has 8gb of memory built into it, but no expansion port for memory cards. That really sucks for people like me who use their phones like an Ipod.

Overall, I think it's smokin right out of the box and is only going to get better as we move forward. It's definitely the best phone on the market right now outside of the Iphone, and certainly Sprint's best option IMO. Anyone have one? Anyone gonna get one? What say ye?

Not only that but Sprint has recently changed a policy that allows "Premier" account holders to upgrade yearly. Pest, if I was you I'd call Sprint and ask them why you're not Premier. Let them know you're unsatisfied with being a 2nd rate customer. If that doesn't wake them up, nothing will. Beware though, $11 hr. reps don't give a shit, nor should they. If a company isn't invested in an employee, how on earth could they expect the employee to be invested in the company? Get a supervisor.

I'm already a Premier customer but he said that I'll still have to wait.

Do not know anything about the premier thing, but most carriers when I sold phones had a every two year upgrade policy even if you did not renew your contract.. You could do it more, but you would not get the discount..

Of course whoever you might be talking to could be ****ing with ya.. I would go talk to someone else or get a supervisor..

So I was at Best Buy the other day and I had some time to kill....so I walked over to the cell phone section and decided to see what the Pre was all about it. Unfortunately they didn't have it to where you could turn it on to play around with it.

From what I could tell....it feels kind of flimsy and the keyboard keys look smaller than the Centro's.

I'm a tall, fat man and everyone complains about the keyboard on the Pre. I have long, fat fingers to go with my frame and it's not an issue at all for me. The phone absolutely looks, and feels cheap, but I've had mine since launch and I have had zero issues with it. Of course I'm incredibly careful with my phones and haven't dropped it, so take that for what it's worth. I do love the Pre though. I'm very glad I bought it. Oh, and my rebate arrived today. Woot!

Do you keep it in any kind of a case?

How long did it take to get your rebate?

It comes with a soft case, but no I don't use it. I should, but I'm so anal with it already I just never worry about it. I've never had a phone break, well I did once, but Sprint replaced it in store because I pay their horrendous price for insurance. I've never broken a phone though.

The Pre while it feels cheap, hasn't loosened up on me. I just don't have a bad thing to say about it, and that by itself is pretty remarkable IMO, because I can usually find something that drives me nuts with any phone.

Oh, and the rebate arrived today, I bought the phone at launch which I believe was the beginning of June, so around 6 weeks. About what I expected.

So the real question is....and I think I've already asked it.....

I have to be able to connect securely with my work e-mail server. Does the Pre do that?

I don't remember exactly how, from what I understand there are hoops to jump through. But remember, their programming software was leaked and there's a shit ton of home brew apps already, it's inevitible. I also ran across an app from Palm themselves, but I'd have to dive into it to know if it was easy.

As great as I think the phone is, if it didn't do what I absolutely needed it to, I would've never bought it either. I'll dig into it some when I get home tonight and see if I can link it to my outlook at work.

Cool....I appreciate it. Normally I wouldn't care....but my work gives me a stipend if I use my personal phone for business purposes. Hence why I have a Blackberry Curve.

Okay, so they have pocket mirror. Which will sync everything, but you have to be connected to a wifi connection in order to sync. Meaning your phone can't do it by itself. I'll look tonight for a homebrew app, and honestly SLAG is the guy I'd talk to about it. He's pretty hip to Sprint, and particularly the Pre.

Cool thanks. I'll send him a PM and ask him about it. I'd love to get the Pre but if can't do work e-mail....it's a deal breaker.

Then again I'd go with in iPhone but I can't justify paying almost $200 for all of that shit.
