*.* 2014 General Fitness Thread *.*

Welcome to 2014! Now get your ass in top physical condition!

No one else started it so here it is!

**From the 2013 Thread**

If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs

If you have questions about the SS programs, look here:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ

Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

Apparently, you feel that this is not the case and I should be castigated for thinking such a thing.
I love how the people who know the most about Crossfit are the people who've never done it, have friends who do it, or tried it for a week and thought it was a joke. I will never understand all of the butthurt about crossfit.

1. Crossfitters DO crossfit to train. 2 of the top 20 crossfitters work out at my gym and they actually do the WODs right along with everyone else. They also do other things. That's not so bad. Football players don't JUST play football to get into football shape. I did crossfit + other stuff for a little over a year and I got into the best shape of my life.

2. I have no idea if those guys are juicing. Rich does look pretty huge. The other two don't really. I know that I'd be shocked to find out that the crossfitters that I know were juicing. They don't have bodies that I think are unachievable without it. I feel like a lot of people on here have the "If that duded is bigger than me he must be juicing" mentality.

Not sure what your point is.

1. Thats exactly what we've been saying all along. They dont just do the WOD. They do a shit ton of strength work and other accessory movements.

2. a quick google will yield a plethora of results regarding ped testing & crossfit games. not to mention guys I personally know that have competed and told me about some of the supplement strategies these guys were(are) on.

You seem to think that people have to be absolutely huge to be on peds, which proves you don't really know what or how they work. Their could be guys at your local crossfit palace that weight 150 and are on peds, you can't tell just by size alone.

I dont have a problem with crossfit. I guess I did it for years before it was even popular. We just called it calisthenics & conditioning for football.

That's not the statement that I quoted in bold. What you're saying is correct and I've never seen anyone deny that. In fact, you basically retyped what I wrote.

Why is that a bad thing? There's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

This is ****ing stupid. This is the opposite of what I just said. I said I have no idea if anyone is taking PEDs. I'm not so naive to think that I can look at a picture and tell you whether they are or aren't. I am fully aware that people of all sizes and shapes could be juicing.

And this tells me you still don't know what the **** you're talking about. It's absolutely not calisthenics. They do a lot of heavy lifting and strength training as a part of crossfit.

I have no idea where your trying to go with this. I just basically said that we did the same thing as crossfit 15 years ago for football training. heavy lifting, followed up by what you guys now call 'wod'.. push-ups, burpees/squat thrust thingys, sprint 100yards, do some other shit. we just called it calisthenics, there was no other term for it back then.

nice job man! I am definitely thinking about keto if I ever do decide to lean out. Right now my goals are to hit my strength levels from college. Been playing my cards right and am getting damn close. Hit 440x1 monday for squat, so I need another 30lbs on that. Tonight is deads so Im going to aim for 550. Bench still sucks at 290, my bench and overhead press have always been shit.

4-5 days a week with weights. If I do cardio it's about 1 mile walk on the treadmill at 3.0. I'd love to say I busted my ass, but I really didn't. It's more discipline with food than it is "hard work". In fairness though I've lifted weights for 15 years straight and just let myself go diet wise. The muscle was already under there; I just had to strip the fat off and maintain the muscle and as I've mentioned I'm on doctor prescribed TRT so that helps to

On that note, I'm going to go to the gym. I was seriously considering working through lunch until I read this.

Time to go get swole!
