Hey Check Out Fenway Park!

I'll post a few vacation pics for you. On Friday my first tourist stop was a tour of Fenway Paaaaaak. I'll post some pics as the tour went through. Took a little over an hour, and we walked a lot. All over this MFer... These were two of our tour guides. Tall guy was a retired Air Force, short guy talked Royals baseball with me a lot. His all time favorite Sox player is Ortiz. When you walk in there's a memorial to the day the Boston Marathon got bombed. Red Sox had a game that day. Closeup of Green Monster from behind home plate. They're tearing up the field right now, working on it for spring. Visitor's Locker room, where the Royals would dress before the game. Pedro's old locker, moved to visitor's room for the tour.

Next, view from below the press box. It's waaaay up in the sky behind home plate. Then original oak grandstand seats down the first base line. Oldest continually used seats in all of MLB. Display case with stuff from the 1946 Red Sox. First year of real baseball after WWII ended. Bullpen car used from the mid 1960s to Late 1970s to bring relief pitchers in. Old ticket booth used for 75 years. Now it holds Sox historical display inside.

These are cool. When was the last time a cart was used to bring in a relief pitcher?

Now we go up to the Press Box. This is where the newspaper writers sit. So Mellinger for the Star would be up here. Radio room is down the hall. View looking towards right field. See the big skinny tall black building to the right? That was our hotel, 20th floor. It's 60 stories, the top 40 stories are condos. Pesky Pole down the right field line. Sox retired numbers up on the facade of Right Field. The lone red seat in the RF bleachers was where Ted Williams last home run settled.

Final Stop, top of the Green Monster. Tour guide telling the story of Fisk's 1975 homer vs. Reds in World Series where he waves the ball fair. They have a plaque with the story right next to it. Boston skyline from the top of the Monster. One of the displays with stuff from the 1975 Series.

Most MLB teams had one in the 1970s. It was a thing then.

I went to a game there about a month or two ago. Had no dog in the fight, they played the Orioles. Just thought it was something I should do. I learned I don't actually like baseball, just the Royals, because I was bored out of my mind. I left in the 5th inning.

I thought Camden Yards was a cooler stadium if I had to be honest.

I've been to Fenway once for a Red Sox Yankees game at it was crazy. That stadium is one crazy antique.

Real cool photos and looks like you had a blast during the tour.

Hope you planted some steroids in a few of the players locker.

Cool thread and pics!

Did they talk about filming the movie “The Town” there?

I used to do a lot of business in the Boston area. Was at Fenway when the Oakland A s were in town and Mark McGwire hit three home runs.
I remember wondering why they kept pitching to him.

My rep had provided the tickets and they were inside, right behind home plate. John Hancock 700 club or something like that. I still have the program from that game.

Historic stadium. Looks like the tour might have been more enjoyable another time of year.

I went to a game there in April. I was amazed at how small it is and how it tucks into the neighborhood there. Very cool place though.
