If not #1, where?

The draftniks keep saying that Geno Smith isn't worth the #1 pick.
None of them say he isn't the top QB in the class though.
If we don't take him at #1 how far is he realistically going to fall?

I see no scenario where he falls out of the Top 10.

So if he's the top QB in a weak class...
QB is our biggest need...
And he's gonna go Top 10 anyway...

Why not at #1?

Am I wrong to say he won't fall out of the Top 10?

Isn't Reids philosophy that you need QB, OT's, DE's, and CB's to win.

Star and Joeckel are the only players I'm concerned about being the pick instead of a QB. Star would bump Poe outside.

That's not really comparable he drafted the ends to be pass rushers, different scheme etc etc.

yes, he doesn't give a flying **** about LBs and for his first 5 years he didn't prioritize WR either but that seemed to change

Yep, and pass rushers we don't need.

It's going to be interesting to see how they approach it. D-linemen should be less of a focus in the draft for the 3-4 than for 4-3 teams, but on the flip side Reid has a history of devaluing the LB position, and focusing on the line. He's going to have to find a middle ground somewhere.

I'd like to think that they're logical enough to know that they probably shouldn't be taking a 5-tech in the 1st round for the 5th time in 11 years.

But this is the chiefs...

Logic would say he'll invest in the OLB's since he values pass rushers but the MLB's and DL probably won't get that level of investment.

Point is that he values the lines and the Chiefs are looking at replacing 2 D-linemen next year.

With the FO preaching about how they aren't going to reach and if by the end of the combine they still haven't locked in on a QB then I wouldn't be surprised to see the first pick be Star, bumping Poe outside, and going with a QB in the second or trading up into the bottom of the first.

I think letting Albert go and drafting Joeckel would be reeruned and improve the team not one bit when you have the #1 pick. So I expect Albert to get a contract.

maybe so if they go 3-4 which i've read somewhere they intend to do

otherwise, with a 4-3 Reid stocked up DE and DT and took whatever leftovers he could find in FA at LB

They're already a 3-4 and have said they are keeping it. They already have two pro bowl OLBs.

I bet Reid is licking his chops knowing that the majority of the heavy lifting has already been done.

Bowe
Albert
Winston
Houston
Hali
Flowers

Insert Geno Smith, please.

if you really think Geno at #1 then so be it but i'd then call you a dope, otherwise the best option is to trade out of #1 and aim for more picks

e.g. how about trading with the 49ers for Alex Smith and a bunch of their picks? you then ride Alex for a year or two while you find and groom "the guy", probably even get a QB with the Niners pick

not saying that's the one but something creative like that, a "Reid like move", check his draft record and you will see many trades like this although to be fair they didn't involve the top pick
guess i called his one! you dopes crushed me with a storm of neg reps and called me stupid

hehe

i'll shoot some more predictions up as we get closer to draft time, just look at Reid's history for clues as to what will happen

You didn't call shit, you dipshit.

The speculation of trade for Smith was out there, and we gave up premium picks for his mediocre ass.

We didn't get a bunch of picks with him.

We called you stupid because it was and still is a stupid ****ing shitty idea. It was stupid when you suggested it and it's stupid now that Reid is apparently implementing it.

Since there's no late round flyer worth jack, it's going to have to be using the pick to stay in the top ten and picking up either Geno or Barkley. Or, we could just continue to suck donkey dick as a franchise, yes.
