However, it seems that he was able to not go to the SR bowl and still have a pretty good chacne to be the pick. So I can't say it hurt him too awful bad.
It just kept him in line with the other QB's in the back end of the first round talk.

It wasn't about being better than the the other QB's as much as it was about raising his own stock to be worth a top 10 pick.

I will say this though. With Barkley not throwing this week, that is a huge benefit to Geno, but he has to have a completely great week in all phases to get into the top 10.
He can't just look good throwing short and intermediate passes. He has to nail them all. And he has to nail the interviews.

But that's basically what every other QB has to do too.

I doubt he'll look better than Glennon throwing the deep ball since Glennon puts great velocity and solid accuracy on his deep passes.

He wasn't very good at it at the SR bowl, in the game atleast.

Glennon was less than impressive in that quarterback skills drill they had on ESPN2. EJ Manuel won the thing, for crying out loud. Glennon is the guy the draft "experts" are talking about when they say there isn't a QB good enough to go in hte first round.

But I digress. I agree with your statement, and have no doubts that Geno will impress.

They said the same thing about Newton and he nailed almost all of the deep passing drills.

Geno is in position to do the same.

As for Glennon, for most teams, the deep passes are going to be offset by his erratic throwing in the 10-30 range.

You can get drafted throwing a rocket deep ball but you can't make a living in the NFL playing shitty in the intermediate passing game.

Actually, credit to DJ for this, Flacco is somewhat proving otherwise.

If you have a guy who isn't damn accurate in the short intermediate zone, but throws a deep ball well, throw it deep. When you hit, it will more offset the shitty accuracy short.

DJ's theory is great and I absolutely agree with him.

But the NFL isn't NEARLY as forward thinking as we are.

Yeah, like the point Messier brought up early, it's the reason these guys go with the safe option. Safe doesn't get you fired as quick. It usually takes longer to show that it was the wrong thing to do.

Whereas a big swing usually does.

Well, Kiper and others are saying he can do that at the combine. So I guess it worked out either way.
