I made the backhanded comment earlier but I really look at the Colts and see a team with few weaknesses but also nothing that particularly stands out. They kind of look like the 1995 Chiefs to be honest.
If Big Ben is even 70% of what he was before injury, I think the Steelers are the 2nd best team in the conference.

Elite defense, elite caliber OL and they added Ebron (good player with an actual QB) and Chase Claypool, who I really like.

Uh, the soul crushing beat downs we have given him over the years literally lead to 4 or 5 of the post loss anger bangs that resulted in half of his brood of children.

Whoa, the question wasn't about whether the guy was a great QB. The question was "is this guy a franchise-level QB?" Which I think Culpepper covers that easily, stats-wise.

https://www.pro-football-reference.c...C/CulpDa00.htm

And while i like to make fun of Dak constantly, let's be honest, the guy can play QB. His stats alone put him in some elite company (no, I don't think Dak is elite, let's not go down that road). He's not great, but he's better than about half the QBs in the league, which makes him a franchise QB, regardless of whether he ever figures out how to win a playoff game.

We can't just go by whether the guy won a playoff game or even a SB. Heck, there are plenty of QBs that won SBs that I know Dak is more talented than. Hostetler being just the first example off the top of my head.

I already conceded both. It really isn’t about who was or wasn’t franchise level. It’s about teams getting them frequently and maintaining consistency. Very few teams have done that over time, that’s the point. People seem to just be assuming that the Colts are going to get a good QB and fall into place behind the Chiefs in the AFC.

Sure, it is that simple. But it’s anything but easy.

Rgr. Sorry, i must've missed your concession.

Agreed. i thought the Colts just basically won the lottery when they got Luck. I remember asking my brother (Colts fan), "what are the gosh-danged odds that your HOF QB leaves, and your team just happens to get another elite QB in the following draft?"

I was a bit testy when I asked that question because I was, of course a Chiefs fan, and we'd never had that kind of luck since the day I was born 52 years ago.

I'm not sure the Colts are 100% convinced Luck wont play again...so they are hedging for another season or two.

He's only 30..when he gets around 32 and could make $100 million for three years work, I bet he returns. It would be hard to know you could still be a top 5-7 QB...sitting around your house every year.

I wouldn't blame him if he didn't...Colts beat the shit out of him....but he never made it to a Superbowl.

Sorensen may not have his stats, but he is a f&%$ing clutch gamer. Plus we're getting Thornhill back so I say lets roll with that.

Mahomes threw 6 TD's against that "elite" defense. Check it out sometime, it was an awesome game. Complete blowout until the refs got a call from New York to slow the game down for us.

Like some have already stated, I’m not concerned about the Ravens pre, post, whatever Earl Thomas. Good roster, but really they’re a QB away. Anyone older than 17 years old and knows the history of the league can tell you why. The media somehow talked morons into thinking Lamar is anything but superior athlete Josh Allen/Andy Dalton. I’m not scared of any QB that teams want to pass. We had those kind here for awhile in case you forgot lol.

The team I’m concerned (not really concerned, but have an eye on) is the Steelers. If Big Ben is healthy they’ll win that division.

All the pundits seem to think Dallas.

I'll trust Veach regardless and as pointed out we now have Thronhill.

If Veach doesnt think Thronhill is 100% or Thomas is an upgrade for a year like I said I trust him.

I dont see Thomas as the same guy he was and it's pretty clear from all reports hes a locker room issue.

You’re talking about 2 years ago without Minkah Fitzpatrick or Devin Bush? They were a far better defense last year.

I get that your schtick is to poo poo on anybody that says something good about other teams but you need to pay attention.

NOBODY is saying the Steelers are going to unseat the Chiefs. We are saying the Steelers will be more of a challenge than the Colts.

Yeah, I think the Steelers end up winning the North this year too. They're just really damn good on defense.
