What do you think of Carl's Jr. or Hardees? vs. other fast food places?

Hey CP eaters on the go.

CJ and Hardees are basically the same place. You ever go there?
why/why not?

What do you get there?

What do you think of their food vs other options.

Do you have any opinion of their brand? Like ads or just the place/idea of CJ/Hardees in general vs. other places? Like, who would you compare them to or rank them above/below on the fast food food chain.

Any responses greatly appreciated and will be entered to win a link to the Travis Kelce McDonald's Commercial plus all of my casino cash.

I remember growing up in Leavenworth I liked going there. But having moved away and now living in the northeast, they are hard to find. I think I would eat there if I could find one within an hour's drive.

As a West Coast transplant I can say Carl's Jr. makes me slight more nauseous after eating than Hardee's did. But other than that they're very similar.

The only thing I eat at Hardees is their breakfast sandwiches. Best fast food biscuits, bar none.

Glad to know they still do that.

Way back when I worked Hardees in HS, we had an honest to goodness little old granny whose only job was to come in an hour early every day to get a jumpstart on biscuits from scratch. She worked 5-12, with her last hour doing the dishes from breakfast cooking. Other than that, she never did anything in the store except make biscuits from scratch all morning every morning.

I worked at a steak house in high school and college, and at some point when salad bars came into vogue they created a salad bar, which then expanded into other things.

They started making homemade rolls, and oh my, those things were tasty. Like you noted, they had some woman who could come in far before sunrise to start making them, and they were heavenly. 30 years later, I probably still carry some extra weight from eating a million of those rolls.

I don't have those near me now, so I haven't eaten in one for years.

I have fond memories of Hardee's growing up. As a teenager, I thought they had very good food, and my local restaurant had one half of a twin package named Courtney who enchanted me, so I would go there just to hear her say "ham and cheese", and possibly brush my hand as she handed me my change. But that's off topic. Let's just say that I liked Hardee's.

I have a policy against going to Carl's Jr when I'm traveling, mostly because I despise those commercials that have people making crunching and grunting and slurping sounds while they're eating. I don't wish to make those sounds and I don't wish to be near people who make those sounds and I don't wish to support a business that supports making those sounds. Their commercials also give me a distinct feeling that their food is mega-caloric, and that if I eat a small hamburger there I'll overshoot my daily calories for the next two days. I recognize that's their brand, and maybe they're right to go for the loud-eating gluttonous market, but that's not me.

Relative to other fast-food brands, I would rate Carl's Jr closer to Long John Silver's than anything else. Both places have flavorful, plentiful food that's incredibly unhealthy. Jack in the Box would also live close to them on the brand map.

I would place Hardee's closest to Arby's. Good creative menu variety and generally good food.

If they were cars, Carl's Jr. would be a 60s muscle car that looks cool, but is loud and get 8 mpg. Hardees would be a Chrysler Crossfire - good and underrated, not well known, and canceled before its time.
