Former Giants’ DC and HC Steve Spagnuolo has emerged as the favorite to replace Bob Sutton as the Chiefs’ defensive coordinator, per sources.

Spagnuolo and Andy Reid worked together in Philadelphia, share the same agent and have a mutual respect for each other’s work.

I'm not sure you have a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of an HC and a coordinator.

Unless you can demonstrate some fundamental discernment in that area, I'm going to have to discount your opinion on the matter.

It's correct. The DC is going to have zero overhead from Andy and will be running that unit all on his own. Heck, he even sits on the bench with Pat when the Defense takes the field.

Looking at prior HC attributes actually matters quite significantly.

There's plenty of stuff out there that would actually say otherwise, but I do welcome you to bring some evidence to the table that would contradict that. No way no how do I believe Andy, a very detail oriented coach, having a hand into such a massively undisciplined unit.

Spags called defense I’m pretty sure and Flajole didn’t.

Spags deserves blame and credit for the how Rams performed on D as it’s his specialty and he called plays.

Didn't Andy Reid make the decision to start Ward/Smith in the Seattle game?

Doesn't seem like a move Andy would make if he was 100% hands off with the defense.

He did take the Lions into the playoffs. Not the highest of barometers, but said a lot considering how sad that franchise was prior to his era.

Telling werthers to start some young dudes isn't really getting getting into the Defensive gameplan. I think outside of that, nothing.

No one would do well in those situations.

Everything else during his time in STL and NY should be fair game to critique/praise for.

NY is tough to call fair game either. In 2017, Ben McAdoo didn't just lose the locker room. There was flat out mutiny. Spagnuolo spent half of the year cleaning up his mess as interim coach.
