Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

Ebay/ you can find real good deals on scopes. The bidding gets fun the last minute of the auction. Im sold on the old style Aetech's made in the Philippines for 5.56 cal. I have 2 & one more I owe money on. They are crystal clear edge to edge,& they gather light extremely well. $100.00 to $120.00 cant go wrong.
The new Aetech models are no wear near the scope the old ones are.

Yeah, the problem is at that distance with the magnifier the red dot becomes a red blur obscuring the bullseye.

Thanks for the recommendation. A scope is clearly my next step for improved accuracy, but I really just don't need it. The range I go to only goes up to 100 yards, and I don't know of any others (at least not public) that are longer. I don't hunt anymore and don't really have any plans to start up again - the days of going to grandpa's farm and doing whatever the hell I want to are gone forever. Right now I have a hybrid rifle that's good for the only target shooting I can do plus prepped for the ZA. I think I should be satisfied with that and call it a day.

I really have to give it up for this lil Beeman 22 pellet rifle, for around the house varmit control.
It shoots 1 inch or better. Its one shot, one kill.
My rocky kill for today?
30 yards on the run. I aimed at his head as it darted threw my yard. P.O.I.
Just behind his front leg. He rolled couple times, & that was that.

What are your opinion on name brands, Browning, Mossberg, H&R, Remington, Winchester and so on?
I have noticed a huge price difference in the "Name" that you buy. Is there any substantial reason for the difference, i.e. better quality of metal, wood, synthetic, or is it really just the name that makes a price difference.
The Cheapist 25-06 I have found is around $300. The most expensive is around $1400. Niether had scopes or slings or anything extra.
Should I avoid a particular brand?

My M&P 40 is the most accurate handgun I've shot. For the price of $4-500 you can't go wrong with one. I slightly beat three certified officers today at the range with it. I love the magazine safety feature on it.

You can't really go wrong with this set up$ Savage has come a long way. I bought the 300 mag setup a few years ago, down loaded my rounds to 150 grain nosler partition bullets and am getting 1 inch groups at 200 yards. Put an after-market walnut stock on it and a Redfield 3x25. This bad boy downed my antelope at 400 yards, one shot, right through the heart.
I have been really impressed with it.

Another Savage owner here. I've got the .270. It's one helluva rifle. You can tune the Accutrigger to exactly what works for you. And it makes a differences for sure. You can get better rifles if you spend more money. But the Savage is damn near perfect in terms of low price and high performance.

After shooting last weekend at the range, I'm thinking of getting a GSG 1911. Although there's apparently a 9mm that you can convert to a .22 for cheaper range practice that sounds interesting as well.
