Queensryche

Saw them last night at the Uptown, and they put on a hell of a show. They did two sets with no opening act - first was the "hits" set, and then they played the entire Operation Mindcrime album. And they opened with the song "Whisper", from their Rage for Order album. Outstanding hearing that live! I've got to say, Queensryche is easily in the top 5 of bands I've seen live. Easily one of the most underrated bands in "mainstream" going today.

The one bitch I could have about the show is that Tate's mic was too soft. Could have used a little bit more volume, but that's pretty nit-picky. And you were right, stevieray, in that the Uptown is a great venue to see a concert! Look forward to going back there again!

Anyone else make the show? Or a fan of Queensryche?

Yeah, I think that was their one top hit they had. They played it, and it sounded good. Their harder stuff is better, IMO.

Cool. I painted their logo on the back of a jean jacket back in the early ninties, ended up giving it to a friend because he was Queensryche freak.

Was it crowded?

They didn't play it! I expected them to do it, especially as a first set encore, but it never came! You'd think they would give a little love to the first song that got them on the map.....

Yeah, absolutely packed. This girl that came with one of my friends got her little brother to stand in line for us for a couple of hours as we all got off work so we could get the primo balcony seats. Cost us ten bucks each, but it was worth it!

Unfortunatly, they sort of got lumped in with all the 1980's hair metal bands when the Seattle scene broke in the early 1990s. They were a little more talented than the average hair metal band.

The ironic thing is, they're from Seattle! I wonder if Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains send those guys send Queensryche royalties for paving the way.....

That's how I felt about Tesla. I love their stuff, and because it wasn't pop-fluff they never got a lot of airplay after "Love song."

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Tesla...another kick ass live band! "Love Song" doesn't really do those guys justice. It was a big hit for them, but their harder stuff is far better (exactly like Queensryche!).

You ment to say "when Kurt "the junky" Cobain single handedly ruined a decade of music" right?

These bands failed to follow the "Bon Jovi" rule of 80's metal: Power Ballad followed up by the up-tempo rocker with a catchy hook. Repeat....
