I am not sure how many stones you guys can throw at K-State for having a bad football history. Kansas has only had 9 winning conference seasons in the last 50 years and only 2 in the last 20 years.

Is KSU's football tradition really any worse than that?
Yes and no.

http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com/data...tate/index.php

KU dominates the all time series and has generally always been better sans the Snyder era. Kstate has sustained success under Snyder for so long it would almost be irrelevant if not for all of the things working against them long term once he's gone.

That's not to say they're going to start going 1-10 again but that program's obstacles mirror Iowa State's and their success is a testament to the greatness of Bill Snyder.

Oklahoma State has all the ingredients for real staying power.
I was taking a regional approach here. Yes if it was simply about biggest surprises I'd leave off Arky and toss on UCONN or Wake.

MU was unranked at kickoff. MU finished 7-5 that year and played a WAC team. In true Mizzou fashion, you lost.

Quit embarrassing yourself.
If you want to swap out Cotton Bowls for Fiesta Bowls back in the day, the point still stands. Then again, as a fan of a team who hangs banners for Helms championships, you may not want to go down that road.

Why did you bring up the Fiesta Bowl? I'm honestly curious why you did that.

Because its currently a BCS bowl game. If I'd pointed at the Cotton Bowls, you'd have bitched about that. Either way...pick one or the other.

Kind of funny that Mizzou has more bowl wins than Kansas has bowls played.

Neither the 2007 Cotton nor 1972 Fiesta was a major/BCS caliber bowl when played. Pretending they are is a form of sad desperation.

The only people who think the Fiesta Bowl in 1972 was a "major" bowl, would be Mizzouchebags.

I would expect Kansas to have a really nice run for the next couple of decades, then.

They'll make his of balsa wood to preserve the structural integrity of the limestone it's built on.
