If Hamas picks Kerrigan.....then I full expect OTW58 to take Aldon Smith right after him.

This isn't a hard pick at all. The player matches the needs. Jermaine Cunningham is the heir-apparent at LOLB, and this guy can man the main pass rushing position, while also remaining versatile enough to rush as a RDE in nickel situations, or functioning as a Hali-esque standup defensive end.
The New England Patriots select Aldon Smith, ROLB/RDE, Missouri

I agree that Smith should be off the board somewhere in the next three picks.

Dammit. Saw it coming.
If given the opportunity, I would have been trying desperately to trade up in front of the Pats. Being #1 defensively with Shaun Phillips and hot garbage/career backups/upcoming FA's at the other 3 LB spots is pretty impressive, and while we would have liked to add Smith to the LB corp, we're happy to fill the position with our 1a choice. The Chargers select: Ryan Kerrigan, OLB, Purdue |

In reality, I believe the Pats would go Kerrigan over Smith every single time. Not saying they'd be right, but I believe he fits their philosophy a bit more.

Then again, the Chiefs wouldn't have picked Dirty Sanchez #3 overall 20 minutes after trading a 2nd for Cassel. Hamas only has a tenuous grip of reality when he's playing GM. |

Smith isn't a poor pick by any means; he's higher upside but higher risk. I simply don't think the Pats are interested in the latter, when a "similar" player with great intangibles is available. |

They would, but as has been mentioned, "they" are not "me" and this is not a predictive exercise, it's supposed to be about what is best for the team you are picking for.

I think the Giants go with Castonzo or Sherrod with the current board.
I wouldn't put Pouncey past them, though. Or Martez Wilson I guess. |
