Injuries can ruin an entire season, and that is a truth that every team in the NFL must deal with.
The Kansas City Chiefs (8-5) have lost running back Jamaal Charles, offensive lineman Ben Grubbs and cornerback Phillip Gaines, among others, to Injured Reserve, but they have managed to sustain their season and will go for their eighth win in a row Sunday.
Their opponent, the Baltimore Ravens (4-9), have lost a staggering 18 players to Injured Reserve, and that includes starting quarterback Joe Flacco, No. 1 wide receiver Steve Smith and starting running back Justin Forsett. At this point in the season, the Ravens have acknowledged they are playing for pride.
But that doesn’t mean the Chiefs plan to take them lightly.
“It’s easy when you turn on the film to see they’re not exactly what their record shows,” Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said this week. “They had a few injuries, but the guys who are playing in there are playing their hearts out and I know firsthand that they’re very well-coached and that they’ll play hard.”
Filling in for Flacco will likely be 12-year veteran Matt Schaub, who didn’t play against the Seahawks last week due to shoulder and chest discomfort. In two starts for the Ravens this season, Schaub is 52 of 80 for 540 yards passing, 3 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.

Cinci depends on week one or week two.

I don't want to face them at home week one of the playoffs with the blueballs they have from the past 5 seasons. But if they win that, they come back to earth hard the next week.

Random observations as I watch this one again.

The first sack is on Kelce. Asking him to block a DE/OLB by himself is stupid. It's just not his thing. I don't want to see more of this. Kelce can assist in a block and then release, sure.. but don't ask him to stay in there and block all by his lonesome.

The following KR for a large gain after our TD drive.. refs overlooked two rather obvious push in the back infractions from BALT.

On the 2nd sack of our next drive, Fulton get instantly shoved back into the pocket by the DL on a 3 step drop pass play. Jah didn't fare much better vs the edge rusher. This sack can also be blamed on Alex. He had just enough time to throw a quick pass underneath, but froze up because of the quick pocket collapse. Maybe in this case, that's a good thing. A 5 yd gain can often not be worth the punishment inflicted on a QB as he releases the ball without time to protect himself from a hit. I know it's still a trait of his that irritates people.. even me sometimes.

So it's 21-7 in the 2nd Q.. after that TD pass to JMac.. and an annoying defensive stop x2, but Harris caused that 5 yd penalty running into their punter. Anyway, we get the ball back with 9:37 left in the half.

Of course, Branch shoves his gunner in the back and hence the flag.. so instead of starting at the 27, we are backed to the 15.

First play is a stretch run from the short side of the field. We lose the battle in the trench, and West loses a yd. Second play is one of those WR screens we love so much. Jmac catches it and gets good blocks from Kelce and Conley for a 6 yd gain. 3rd and 5 play is a quick pass gain for Kelce, 22 yds.

1st down, PA slant pass to JMac. Alex just overshot it a yard high, and was lucky it didn't hang up longer for an INT. Maybe his only awful pass of the day? The TD pass to JMac was less than pretty, but I won't rip on a TD pass, nope.

2nd and 10, another screen to JMac. This is the one that he'd have picked up at leas 7 yds on.. but he somehow lost grip on the football. Thank you Albert for collecting it.. but it's a loss of 2 instead of looking at 3rd and short.

So 3rd and 12.. Albert runs an 11 yd route and Alex hits him right on time. I can't imagine Andy designing this route 1 yd shy of the marker. So.. that's on Albert for running the route short.. right? Anyway... punt time.
