Stafford is definitely overpaid, but he's actually had some OK seasons. Bradford is also a good choice (and I saw that train wreck up close) but even he had a couple seasons that were OK. I think the answer has to be Ryan Leaf or Jamarcus Russell. If you look at what they made compared to salaries when they played & consider they basically never did anything at all, it's got to be one of those two.

Yep. The Lions have never even had a great coach. At least in my lifetime.

Middling to mediocre franchise. Owned by a silver haired Ford family member who probably doesn’t care if they win or lose. It all starts at the top.

Albert Haynesworth. Didn't play up to that $100 million contract for a single game.

Stafford is a good QB. Could have been a perennial top-10 QB, if he'd ever had a good OC, or even any stability in that crappy organization.

But that's why W/L record isn't a QB stat; winning and losing is too reliant on too many other players/factors to put the onus on just the QB. Hell, Pat lost three games last year that had nothing to do with how he played. And everything to do with the defense, or if you prefer as I do, Bob Sutton.

If Stafford stays healthy this year, and the Lions don't take away his weapons, maybe shore up that defense, and just flat out coach better all around, the Lions will probably win 10 games this season (haven't looked at their schedule, so a little room for error here).

Of course, these are all huge mountains to climb for the Lions, so we'll see what happens. But Stafford is better than Dak.
