The logic behind Kubiaks call to kick it

The analysts on tv just say because he's aggressive, but we on chiefs planet actually know why.

- A tie does not help them (Or Chiefs) catch Oakland and would essentially leave them two games back, so might as well kick it.

- If the kick misses, the most likely outcome was a tie. While a tie sucks to catch up to Oakland, at worst they would get a tie with the Chiefs and keep both teams at 7-3-1.

HOWEVER MR. KUBIAK....

- You should have thought about giving the chiefs the ball back with a minute. It was a slim chance to pick up 20 yards for a try, but the chiefs offence stepped up.

- Now, instead of taking the easy tie you gave the chiefs, a division rival chasing Oakland, a viable chance to catch them. And, you let Miami catch up to you, with the Steelers and Bills closing in (one game back).

I feel his decision to kick was based on trying to win the division, but he didn't realize by not taking a tie, the chiefs could storm down the field and make them take an L. Which they did. The tie-loss difference will be HUGE come playoff when Denver is fighting for a wild card spot.

Bad, Bad call.

He should have went for 5 yards on 3rd down to make a more reasonable kick. Mcmanus really wasn't that far off if you look at it from the perspective of a 55 yard try

Same, if it goes well shit, I've never seen a 60+ fg in OT, and rarely otherwise.

I just don't know why the analysts don't have someone to explain why he would chance that. I feel though Kubiak was not thinking about the teams behind him, only the division. Giving KC a loss and getting 1gb of Oakland would have been huge....but he should have punted and taken the tie to stay up on the outside-looking in teams.

I actually thought it was a good call. The odds of Kansas City driving 30 yards to field goal position were one in a million, so it was pretty much a free shot to win the game. Fortunately, the Chiefs drew the winning lottery ticket.

At first I did too, until I realized the slim chance of the kick making it and if you take a tie, you are guaranteed to be up on Miami. Not anymore.

KC really only had to pick up 15 yards in a minute with a timeout (started on DEN 48). So not that unfeasible. I think it was the wrong choice when you have other teams breathing down your neck.
