This was the first really good sign for us this season. I know people want to be loyal and hope for the best, predict the best. But, this game we really showed sign of be able to run the offense to beat the defense scheme everyone is using for us.
We ran the ball, not a lot, but effectively. Mahomes would look deep first, but check it down without waiting forever. Mahomes dink and dunk to a variety of places and players. Andy called some of the old plays we used to use all the time. TE screen, RB wheel route(didn't work). This offense looked like Andy, instead of like Eric. This had the flow of andy, the intiutive calling of Andy. I think Eric lost the playcalling, although Andy will never admit it. I think Andy tried to hand the rein to Eric this season to help him get promoted, it didn't work. Against the Raiders, Andy took the offense back. I liked the deep pass and catch to Pringle, hope he gets more targets. What might be even better, is that with as good as we looked, Mahomes still missed several open receivers deep. He probably had 3 or 4 more deep touchdown passes for the taking, another 80 yards passing. Think about those numbers for a second, 525 yards pass with 6 TD? lol Good game for us, just what we needed. Last edited by JakeF; 11-15-2021 at 02:48 PM.. |

Don't get your hopes up on the deep ball. He is not Russell Wilson on those throws. Never has been, including the MVP season. Ton of overthrown balls on deep shots.

But while Mahomes might not be Russ on those he can be pretty deadly as well and Mahomes has arm talent to hit plays downfield that Russ could never dream of. I think the interception concern is causing Mahomes to aim too far on those as he is more scared of the underthrow that can be picked. |

Several times against the Raiders, i saw Mahomes really step into the deep pass, using proper footwork instead of throwing off of his back foot. If Mahomes continues to use proper form when making deep throws, he will get better consistency. You can't use different motions each attempt and expect to get precise control. Hope is alive. |
