Beloved: Your Favorite Chiefs. Round 1, Heat 10. Defensive Backs, Part 2

Our second heat of defensive backs. I love defensive backs.

Vote for your FAVORITE three, for whatever reasons that they were your favorite. There are no wrong answers.

I went with:

#1 - Albert Lewis. If you've ever enjoyed a blocked punt, Albert Lewis is your favorite player. Plus, he could play a little cornerback.

#2 - Kevin Ross. Or Marvin Hagler, whichever. He personified the Chiefs defense even more than DT in my eyes. He was unyielding.

#3 - Dale Carter. Okay, he had some issues off the field, but you couldn't deny the guy's grace on the field. He made things look easy. Plus, he was tougher than people think, playing injured when necessary.

I feel terrible that Lloyd Burruss didn't make my top three. Along with Brandon Flowers, Lloyd was perhaps the best pure tackler I've ever seen. You didn't get by Lloyd Burruss.

Benny Sapp may not have been a star, but I also found him entertaining and rooted for him. I hated to see him leave the Chiefs.

Whatever happened with Corey Harris? He seemed promising, but then he was gone.

yes on those 3, same that i voted for..Benny Was awesome and after reading the story you posted I sincerely hope the guy has a great life. Benny was let go because of his mnf incident where he made a nice tackle then did what looked like a doggie style position move. It was actually very funny.

You can't vote for Albert Lewis over Burruss. Lewis CHOSE to go free agent to the Raiders.

Burruss is in the Chiefs HOF and never defected to the Fade.

It's interesting that of our top three votegetters so far, Carter became a Bronco, Ross became a Charger, and Lewis became a Raider. Perhaps I should've voted for Burruss.

Of course, maybe we can forgive Carter because I seem to recall that he basically just stole a bunch of money from the Broncos.

Another interesting bit of trivia about the Chiefs all-time defensive backfield.

Deron Cherry was in a Chiefs uniform from 1981-1991 - 11 seasons.
Lloyd Burruss was in a Chiefs uniform from 1981-1991 - 11 seasons.
Albert Lewis was in a Chiefs uniform from 1983-1993 - 11 seasons.
Kevin Ross was in a Chiefs uniform from 1984-1993 and then again in 1997 - 11 seasons.

It bugs me to see Wesley getting more votes than Burruss. Wesley was an athlete, but Burruss was a football player.
