What NFL Draft Busts suprised you the most?

I wanted this in the lounge so I could get more looks. Who were some sure fire college players you thought would be great who weren't?

Some that really suprised me:

Vernon Gholston; he was dang near unblockable his last year at O-State, when he was matched up against Jake Long he absolutely dominated him. I was really suprised to see how bad he did in the League.

Taylor Mays; I never cared for the kid, but I honestly thought he would be a baller and boy was I off.

Big Daddy Dan Wilkinson; He is one of the first players I watched that I could actually tell was dominating. At Ohio State he was unblockable, he fizzled out in Cinci (common theme), but he bounced around and never made himself a name.

There's plenty more, but that's enough for now.

Good call. I remember being very unhappy when we was drafted by the Fade. But (as with most players our friends from Iowa endlessly talk up) the reality was far different than the hype.

Vince Young. I didn't think he'd be a hall of famer, but I thought he'd have an 8-10 year career where he kept them competitive for a while. I didn't expect him to be that soft mentally.

Dwayne Jarrett's lack of anything at all was quite shocking.

I thought he'd at least be a possession receiver.

I remember thinking Ron Dayne was the man and I also liked Dwayne Jarrett.

I'm happy to report those are from a while ago.

I don't know. Something more recent? I suppose even though he's okay, I expected so much more from Glenn Dorsey considering the hype on him coming out.

Both Irish QBs - Clausen and Quinn.

I figured both guys would end up in that 10-15 range as good, but not great QBs. Essentially Matt Schaub.

As it turns out, they both suck badly enough to be considered as 'competition' for Cassel.

Emmitt Smith played behind an Offensive Line Pro Bowl team. While he had skills, put him on a team with an average Offensive Line, he is good but no where near as good as he was with Dallas.
Walter Payton/ Gayle Sayers/ Barry Sanders true "greats" at that position, with and without the lines in their careers, they always were productive, ....athletes.

Oh how could I forget. I wanted the Chiefs to snag Brady Quinn and finally end their lack of QB issues.

Looks like I'm finally getting my wish. :P

But a few others come to mind

WR Michael Westbrook - this guy was pure talent and I thought he'd be awesome
RB Rashaan Salaam - I thought he was gonna be a badass
QB Brian Griese - admit it, we were all pissed off thinking about what we thought he was gonna do to us
Steve Emtman - that astro turf ****ed him up

Brady Quinn. He seemed to be a great QB coming out. Hopefully he is a late bloomer and becomes a perennial pro bowler in KC. Doubtful, but what other hope do we have this year Not Matt Cassel, and if Ricky Stanzi couldn't beat out Tyler, turnovers on 3 straight plays, Palko, what hope is there in him?

So many QB's busting out surprise me. Is it that they don't have the tools or are teams just not patient enough with them?

Joey Harrington
Akili Smith
David Carr
Brady Quinn
Ryan Leaf
Jamarcus Russel
Matt Leinart

Just to name a few...and many more to come.
