This win pretty much seal the conference imo

KU would have to take a dump against KSU and MU to even have a chance to not win the conference this year.

I don't know the box but aTm killed KU on the offensive boards. Brutal.

I had this one chalked as a loss, glad to be wrong.

the refs were horrible on both sides tonight.

Collins continues to look sub-par (too many minutes by self in the 1st half of this season IMHO)....

...yet we continue to find ways to win.

In the Roy days....these types of games didnt happen enough....then, in the tourney, when the sh*t hit the fan....we sh*t the bed.

I feel much more confident under Self that our boys can handle adversity come tourney time.

Yes. They didn't face this kind of adversity very often. Even when Roy's teams had some adversity like this during the regular season, they didn't usually come through.

In Roy's defense, however, I don't think the conference was as good as it is now.

If Roy's team had an off shooting night, they were done... you could just about predict a loss within the first 10 minutes of a game. I'd get bad feelings early in games, and they usually ended badly.

Not with Self though... they can be shooting like crap, but they'll at least play enough defense to stay in the game. At worst, instead of 35 minutes of "oh sh*t, they're going to lose this, aren't they?" it's 35 minutes of calm and 5 minutes of (well, with the occasional loss ).

No way. Collins averaged 3 more minutes a game last year and picked up steam towards the end of the year. His shooting problems are beginning to worry me though, but if anybody is struggling, he's the person I'd want to pick. I know he'll pick it up when we need it come tournament time. Always does.

aTm was 8/32 FG % in the 2nd half. Good thing that KU got the defense working in the 2nd half. Aggies were shooting a high percentage for awhile in the 1st half.

I didnt think they could keep it going all game... They were on fire the firs half.... I guess that is why they play the other half huh?

8/32 is horrid... KU's defense was the reason for the win... Come tourney time, this will be crucial.

Agreed. Defense wins championships.

Self told them to get tough on D, that will win the game. To be honest, I think it was more of poor shot selection by aTm than "great" or tough D.

They had a stretch of 4 or 5 possessions in a row where they were one and done late in the game.. Even Coach Knight mentioned that they are taking to many quick 3's with no rebounds....

True, but good D can often force poor shot selection because the good shots aren't open.

It was a combination. Whenever they tried to drive to the basket or throw to one of their bigs in the last 5 minutes, they ran into Aldrich. It forced them to take some long, contested jumpers. Pretty much the same script as most KU games.

I love these Big Monday KU games. But it does suck to have to wait 5 days for the next one. CU at Allen Fieldhouse on Saturday should be fun. I don't anticipate another OT game.
