Lions "might make a place" for Dorsey

http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf...ons_rooki.html

Phil: I've heard on more than one occasion that the Lions should swing a deal for DT Glenn Dorsey. I haven't heard much from him in Kansas City, what has he done? What could his trade value be and why would the Chiefs trade him since they spent a 2008 1st round pick on him?
Tom Kowalski: Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham was on the Chiefs' staff when Kansas City drafted him and Cunningham really likes the kid. The reason he might be available is because the Chiefs drafted Dorsey as a 4-3 defensive tackle and they've now switched schemes and he's playing a 3-4 end. Neither the Chiefs nor Dorsey is apparently happy with the results and that's why I think the Lions might make a play for him in the off-season. I still think it's a longshot, but it's a shot worth taking.
As for trade value, I'm not sure what he'd cost. I think you might see something a little creative, like swapping of picks in a round or two, as opposed to a straight-up one-for-one deal. We'll see if this heats up as we get closer to the draft.

EDIT: I meant "might make a play" but don't know how to change the subject.

This.

And regardless of how you big12 homers feel about Suh, he's going to take time to acclimate to the NFL as well. So we'd be back in the rear for another couple of seasons for him to develop. Where next year Dorsey should start to hit his stride here.

Second, draft picks don't really mean shit overall. Dorsey is an ascending player on the defensive line going into his third year with a much better coordinator coming to town. Some people get so caught up in the draft they forget the big picture.

I can just picture it now too. Dorsey would go to Detriot and dominate and everyone would be bitching about how we traded away two great defensive linemen. The same MF'ers bitching would be some of the ones in this very thread saying we should make this trade. It's unreal.

1. What makes Suh a better option than Dorsey for a 34 defense?
2. Why would Detroit want Dorsey over Suh?

If the Rams draft a QB, and Suh was on the board, I would ask about Dorsey and our pick (#5) to move up to #2 and grab Suh. I really do not think that Suh will not be picked #1 by the Rams though.

what about Dorsey for a 2nd this year, and a 3 and 4 next year. Then we can give them derrick johnson for a 4th in 2012. Then we take who we select this year and trade them next year for a 4th,5th, and a 6th in 2013. Cowher will be available for year 2014

1. Nothing.
2. They wouldn't.

Given the D that we run, fan interest in Suh is strange, as far as I'm concerned.

Makes sense to me.
If we were going to do it.

I say Keep him. I think he can be a player were he's at.
Draft picks are risky. Dorsey is going to shine soon. I like he, and TJ where they are.
