Lions "might make a place" for Dorsey

http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf...ons_rooki.html

Phil: I've heard on more than one occasion that the Lions should swing a deal for DT Glenn Dorsey. I haven't heard much from him in Kansas City, what has he done? What could his trade value be and why would the Chiefs trade him since they spent a 2008 1st round pick on him?
Tom Kowalski: Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham was on the Chiefs' staff when Kansas City drafted him and Cunningham really likes the kid. The reason he might be available is because the Chiefs drafted Dorsey as a 4-3 defensive tackle and they've now switched schemes and he's playing a 3-4 end. Neither the Chiefs nor Dorsey is apparently happy with the results and that's why I think the Lions might make a play for him in the off-season. I still think it's a longshot, but it's a shot worth taking.
As for trade value, I'm not sure what he'd cost. I think you might see something a little creative, like swapping of picks in a round or two, as opposed to a straight-up one-for-one deal. We'll see if this heats up as we get closer to the draft.

EDIT: I meant "might make a play" but don't know how to change the subject.

I could care less about Suh, and given the resources we've spent on the line and the type of D that we're running, I'm not sure why anyone else would, either.

Give me Berry.

And let's focus on improving our LBs and seeing if we can't find someone who can rush the ****ing QB and who might allow us to put Hali on the other side. The Exec. of the Century needs to find a gem.

Our 1st + Dorsey = Suh, if that.

I know Suh is untested, but I trust him to be good more than any other player I've seen in a long time. I usually am unsure, but with him there's a definite level of confidence.

We can trade Dorsey if they want. But don't get your hopes up. If they trade him it will be for something like a second and a fourth. It seems like trades, unless they are for pro-bowl players, rarely get anything above a two.

actually that trade value wouldn't be too bad for Detroit unless they really think that Suh is uber-ish. Of course if they think that Suh is Hall of fame material then no trade would be worth it.

but they are basically trading their 2nd rounder and 2 spots of their 1st rounder for Dorsey.

That is good value for them

they still get to pick 5th ... they might not want to be #2 anyway.

we also already paid Dorsey's large draft signing bonus

Detroit wins on that trade unless, once again, you think that Suh is reggie white-ish.

I totally agree with you on that. And usually, I agree with your takes anyways. But the world would be a boring place if we all agreed on everything. Different strokes for different folks, and I can respect your guys' take.

Now all that said, if you really want to fit in around here, you're supposed to call me and idiot, ****ing, reeruned, monkey turd when we don't agree.

I like Dorsey, but I see Suh as a potential hall-of-famer. That's what I meant by 'generational player'. Kind of guy that doesn't come around often. I've never seen anybody dominate the way he did last year. And I don't care where you put him on your line, whether it's a 3-4 end or a 4-3 tackle, I think he's going to do the same thing in the pros in time. I don't think you put him in the same category as guys like Dorsey (or Jackson), because I think he'll play on another level.

Maybe he won't. That's the risk of the draft.

I think it's a moot argument anyway, because Detroit would have to be insane to make any offer even remotely like that.

I'm going to guess if we were to have a chance a Suh, it would take this year and next years first.

The Lions have said NOTHING about trading their pick, only being interested in acquiring Dorsey as well, something which could be a complete power play by Detroit, as someone else before us said.

I love how fans overvalue their own players. I still can't believe the Raiders gave up a first round pick for Seymour. Morons. Maybe they'll give one for Horsey.

I'm gonna laugh when suh comes in and struggles as all first year d-linemen do (for the most part)... people were saying dorsey was one of these generational players too, or do we forget that too quickly?
