I caught some kids around my car at about midnight. I yelled real loud which probably scared the poop out of him since I was only 10 feet away from him. He stood at attention real quick and was talking in the general direction of where I was standing even though he could not see me. I then pulled out the "You kids get off my lawn" and sent him on his way. All was good had the little boy just went home. But no...

This 15 year old punk thought it would be a good idea to show off in front of his teenage friends. Because who is afraid of the big bad wolf, right?

Well, this punk decided to start shining a flashlight at my house at about 1am. Probably to see if he could find me. Then he would walk closer and shine the light again then run back to his friends. And then again. And again. And then the time came to put two in his chest or let a deputy scare them away.

After thirty minutes the Keystone Kops showed. I watched these kids scatter like cock roaches as the deputy turned on his search lights. And then I watched them run around a house as the cop drove past them.

I would have had more fun watching them shake in their boots as I unloaded the 1st round in the air but Zimmerman kinda ruined it for the rest of us.

As the thread was continued, I wanted to clarify that my critique wasn't that aces SHOULD shoot anyone, but that it was stupid to assert that a beam of light was the sole unnerving aspect of this episode.

Too much bounce on a pitching wedge. You want a club that will dig into the ground (or flesh), rather than bouncing off of it.

A nine iron is also a nice length for a baseball swinging motion.

Its also stupid to assume that I wasn't just trolling the OP.

Also, there's a world of difference to me between being armed and even showing your weapon to intruders on your property as a warning and actually bringing out your firearm with intent to use it. OP said that he had to decide between shooting the kid or calling the cops. OP's mindset was deciding between the cops or going on the offensive. The potential for a lethal threat to you/your family's life is not the same thing as an actual lethal threat. OP sounded too quick to pull the trigger, which makes him, to my mind, a scarier presence in the neighborhood than those kids.

Of course you were trolling. It was the stupidity of the effort I was criticizing. Pretending he was scared of the flashlight beam erased any punch your poke might have had.

He had to jump a fence to shine the light into the bedroom. This was quickly going from simple harassment to something much worse. As said before the response time for the sheriffs dept is about thirty minutes to our town. If he had been more aggressive, it would have been over in thirty minutes.

The attitude you showed in this post is one of the problems with society today. Most cities and towns if you discharge a firearm without it being in self defense you will be charged and taken to jail and probably lose your ability to legaly own a firearm.

He was shining the light into my house...at 1 in morning after lights had been turned off for bedtime. There is no upstairs. There is no downstairs. When look into a window you are as good as being in the house.

OPs mindset was not clarified in the post, sounded more like juxtaposition with current news headings and his current life event. Not that he was actually so close to shooting a flashlight bearing kid. Jesus Christ, some people take this board too seriously.
