I would love it if the draft fell this way, but the Texans would be happy to sit on their pick and take Derek Carr, who fits the mold that Bill O'Brien likes at QB, rather than trade up for Manziel.
And Manziel won't last to 23 in any case. Fantasy. Sheer fantasy.

I like Moses, and originally mocked him to the Chiefs in the third/fourth area.
I know he climbed due to his Senior Bowl performance, but at #24? With all that talent still on the board? Whoa. And I think that Jimmie Ward is a strong safety in the mold of Eric Berry without the size. A healthy Sanders Commings (6'0", 221 lbs.) and the free agent signing of Jerron McMillian (6'0", 205 lbs.) the Chiefs will have two "new" safeties on the field next year that are capable of running mid 4.4 40's with verticals over 34". I don't see them spending a first round pick on another one, especially considering that the holes that they have at ILB, OL and WR where they need a starting level guy at each of those positions. That's a metric ****ton of trading. We would be smart to trade back and stockpile picks in a draft this deep.

And we've only worsened that with the signing of Joe Mays to cover that other ILB spot. You're/they are going to be asking DJ and Berry to effectively cover the gaping deficiencies of the other LB in passing situations (which we did last year with Jordan and Berry) and it's not getting any better with Mays versus Jordan. It's a major concern in terms of bettering the Chiefs ability to effectively pash rush (something Van Noy does quite well - especially from the interior) AND cover passing lanes effectively. Van Noy has the feet, hips and instincts to easily drop back and cover that front half, which would allow Berry to give more support to the mid area of the field and not have to rely so much on a single high free safety to cover such a large portion of the field. I mean, seriously - go look at our roster as it stands right now. Outside of DJ, our entire LB corps is a flaming pile of monkey shit. It should be a serious concern at this point. Something to think about anyway. |

If I were going to mock a trade with a team, it would likely be with San Francisco. This isn't as much our history of trading with them as it is the teams right behind us. San Fran needs another CB and with Cincy and San Diego both needing them right behind us, I could see this being a move San Fran would make.
If Frisco gives us 1.30, 3.94, and 5.170, that would fall right in with the value chart and similar to last year when pick 22 dropped to 30 with 92 and 198 thrown in. San Fran would still have 5 picks in the 1st 4 rounds, address a major need, and retain their 2nd round picks. KC could realistically try to move down again, as it seems the end of the 1st round there is always some action that usually nets a gain of a 4th rounder. Anyways, its all dreaming because most teams are going to want to move down in this draft. Could be a good buyer's draft though. |

I do think one QB of the trio won't be going off the board in the top 10 and whoever it is will end up free falling for awhile. Manziel is the most likely of the bunch to be the one to slip. No, but I did happen to check their trade mock right before I posted it. "****" It was a more coincidence than anything. When I saw Walt had the same idea for the KC/HOU trade, I knew a post like this was coming lol I do scan WF, but I didn't lift their ideas for trades. Quote:
I have a different view over Jimmie Ward, but I understand that others will certainly have that opinion on Ward and we'll simply agree to disagree. I do think he's the best prospect for the center field and the Chiefs lost many games because Kendrick Lewis ****ing sucked in that role. There's is a possibility they think that Sanders Commings (lol I guess) is the answer at FS and in that case, I think the best pick at that slot would be ASJ. Quote:

The implosion here if Manziel was available and the Chiefs traded out of the spot would make that move one of the funniest things ever.

This board would explode even though there's no chance the Chiefs would select Manziel.
