Nelson already knows Berry/Parker are the starters in KC.
He could start in Oakland and could likely still get "starter money" on a short-term deal.
Parker would not be the starter if Nelson was signed. Fact is, it would have been smart to have the best FA safety come in for a visit. No 2 ways about it.

Can't compare the needs of the other 30 teams to the Chiefs. The Chiefs took a HUGE hit in their secondary this off-season.

Why would you advocate replacing a very good safety, who's earring $5 million per, with an old **** like Nelson?

You're too focused on age. I prefer to look at production. If I can get a Pro Bowl safety that had eight picks last year for a good price, then I don't care that he's 32 years old. We'll never know what the Chiefs might have signed him for, because Dorsey didn't pursue him. Pretty simple. I know you like to argue, but his stats are undeniable. And the fact that he wasn't pursued for a visit is discouraging. But hey, I'm still rooting for Dorsey and like many of the decisions he's made. Just not this one.

The wheels could fall off at any point, making him not even close to being worth the risk, nor is it even reasonable to bench Ron Parker.

He had more INT's last year than nearly his previous three seasons combined, making 2015 an anomaly.

Parker didn't even play safety last year and he played some corner the year before too.

We've had so many safeties around here the Parker has been more CB than S.

you don't know what he is yet at safety, although his man skills should be improved after the last couple of seasons

There are a couple of things that you are just off base on.

First, we have no idea if Dorsey made any attempt.
He may have reached out to Nelson's agent to find out what Nelson would be looking for in terms of compensation, and found that to be a steeper price than the team would be willing to pay.

Second, age has to be a factor, because Nelson also might be looking for an unacceptable number of years on a contract.

Bottom line, you are making an assumption without any info.

It is you that's making the assumption. The Chiefs have not reached out to Nelson. And that comes from someone that knows the situation... and is not a Leawood real estate agent.
